Driving a Maltese car abroad for over 6 months

Post new topic

mantonas

Hi all,

I bought a car here in Malta which I am still payment it on a monthly basis but I would like to know that if in case I would move abroad, let's say to Ireland and I keep making my payments, would I be able to drive the car for more than 6 months legally?

I read somewhere that if the car is not on your name and or you take it as a lease, you should be able to drive it until the end of the lease, do you guys know if that's actually true? I know that in some countries like Ireland for example, if the car is your name, after being in the country for more than 6 months, you are obliged to change the numbers plates for the Irish ones.

I wonder if anyone could give me some tips on that!

Thanks,
Antonio
