New buses routes, lines and time.

Post new topic

Fellows,

On the next Sunday we have changes on the public transport system. New lines replacing old lines, new routes and changes on the frequency of some routes.

Take a loot at http://news.transport.gov.mt/

Cheers

"We introduced 24 new routes, changed 43 routes
and added 80 new bus stops. Every locality now has a
direct service to Valletta and Mater Dei Hospital.
142 new buses, equipped with environmental friendly
Euro 6 engines, have joined the service. The buses will
be covering 2.5 million kilometres more each year. "

This looks like good news for me! Maybe it'll pull back from the amount of cars.

A lot of locals would rather jump into their car then walk to a bus stop thats why they park
in dangerous places so they do not have to use their legs!!!

i use route 202 or 203 to get to work and from work - they changed both so they don't go to birkirkara anymore

i use bus 22 to go to lidl in san gwan - he doesn't go there any more

if you want to go to hospital, no problem - you have a bus every hour LOL
they managed to cut of gzira from all important connections, i must applause them

and best part - since it starts tomorrow, I wanted to check should i walk to work or wait for bus, some new line
but their jurney planner for tomorrow says to me - walk
and on web page they don't have timetable for new 181 route

seems like there will be at least one more car on the road - mine

almost forgot - route x2 (which is always full) they changed to...... every 60 minutes ROFL
yeah, better service  :joking:

That's really bad news. We used this bus to go from Sliema to Birkirkara only recently. Thank god we didn't move to Sliema in the end as my partner would have solely relied on this connection!

Shame that the roads here are not made for walking. You're almost supposed to take your car everywhere. Yesterday we went shopping at JB Stores and the number 45 going to Buggiba via Naxxar just drove past - half full! It was ridiculous and clearly the people waiting thought so, too as they had been there a while. In the end we walked with backpack, two heavy bags and two quilts all the way up to Naxxar. Most of the time we walked on the street and people in cars looked at us like we were aliens!

It only took us 25min btw - probably quicker than waiting for the bus ;) We're so used to walking everywhere, often 5-6km per day, and we'd love to continue that but you have to be so careful on some roads.
