Hi all! I am trying to find a place to live in Hungary but so far I haven´t been able to find any decently priced apartments online. Most of them seem like a good value for money but after doing a little digging they started to look like if they are all at least priced for double their real cost?
I don´t necessarily need to live in Budapest but that´s the place in my mind for now at least.

Depends what you are looking for and how much money you have to spend.  Budapest is where it is all happening so that's the obvious place.  Parking is bad though.

But yes, you are right, the price always go up over the base rent.  Usually the rent is without the common costs (like cleaning common areas), own insurance and all the services.  Easily that doubles it.  For some strange  reason, at our apartment, the water costs are very high but at a house we own, they are almost zero.

Anyway, I usually look on IngatlanOk but it's in Hungarian.

Use http://translate.google.com. Not perfect, but getting better.

Rents are going up in Budapest, up from last year.
If possible get a native speaker to come with you to these rental agents.
Seems one must pay over 100,000 a month for rent in the city at a min.
Used to be at least 20,000 cheaper a month.
Every building has different rates for common costs, some are low and some are on the high side.
It's been a long time since we rented in Budapest, we have our own place there now. Thinking of selling out and just renting, my husband usually goes on HU sites where the prices seem better when he buys anything in Hungary.
There is a site called, Kapu.Hu, all in HU but I do think they offer a English translate.
In any case bring a native speaker to help you close the deal if you can.
