From Subic to Cebu to Angeles, even Manila, over the years Pinas have always been smiling and nice. This time we are in Tagaytay and it seems the world difference. The weather is great but it seems the people have a disdain for foreigners for some reason. I also noticed the ladys are nowhere near as pretty as the above other parts of the Country, more tribal  and very well fed.   I watched as expats walk by and see locals point to eachother, make inside comments, and stern looks.  I never see the smiles or the welcomes that there is in other parts of the Country, and am wondering if others have seen this.  I thought maybe they dont like the growth in the area or something. A few expats i met hear said they feel the same way

It is true that the weather is very forgiving in Tagaytay because unlike other places here in the Philippines, Tagaytay actually has a lower temperature. When I was there, I did not really notice the unwelcome feeling that you had experienced. But I hope that would not affect your judgment of the whole people from there. We have encountered nice people there too. And it is so nice to see children playing in the streets in one part of Tagaytay.

Hi, i think its not that people from Tagaytay are less friendly ..theyre just simply more shy, but people there are warm and welcoming and always have smile for people,be it local or foreign.Maybe theyre not just  so used to seeing or talking to foreigners..actually theyre polite people..they have high sense of good values and family values too..I ca attest to  that for i have few friends from there.or sometimes thayre just not to comfortable speaking in english .But like most of the Filipinos,,its our nature to be friendly and smily face..Just enjoy the Philippines and keep safe  everywhere u go.

Sorry to hear that Mike, never had a problem in Tagatay. I smile with them they smile and talk back with me. Found some interesting people there at all levels of the economic groups. But like song" Smiling Faces". But it is human nature I think to test how people will react when seeing a stranger in the area that is not a native ?? Keep smiling they will like you and you them. Beauty I find is sometimes locked within the person,if you only look on the outside for it may miss it.

Sorry to hear about your unfriendly experience in Tagaytay but to be fair I don't think one can say that of the whole place. You just had one of those ill-timed situations but trust me, basically they are warm and friendly. Try to go back there some other time. Have fun!

Must disagree! - I've lived in Tagaytay for seven years

There are a great many expats here, British and American and many other nationalities and all seem pretty happy. Very friendly place and helpful people everywhere and very little crime. It's expanding like crazy with new shopping malls, a big Filinvest  opening next year, modern hospital, excellent schools and so on.  And cool weather

I Would strongly recommend any ex pat to consider living here.

That is good to hear, maybe we just havent been here long enough. It was a feeling  i got when compared to other parts of the Philippines, maybe they were more use to foreigners,. I know  Subic and Tacloban/Palo/Cebu really like Americans for example.  A couple other expats here originally brought it to my attention so i started noticing what they meant, i just did not know if  foreigners did something to the people or what, but  recently from a couple life long Filipinos here it was explained that  until not too many years ago this was very rural (he called it jungle) so the big growth all of a sudden and some people of the old times are not use to it yet.  You are right it is really growing here and doesnt seem to be going to slow down anytime soon.  Would love to see them be pioneers for alternate energy to clean the air before it gets more crowded but that will depend on the Mayor ect..
Nice place , we like the climate best of all.
