Marriage abroad

Hello all,
I have a question about the process of getting a residence permit in Denmark through marriage. I am getting married to my danish boyfriend in a couple of months, but we will be marrying in the states instead of DK. Do we need to ask for a certificate validating our marriage in DK before we submit my application for the residence permit? Also, if you have been through this process before, how long did it take you to get the permit? Any interviews required? I know about the deposit that has to be put in an account. I am more concerned about any other issues that may arise and the time it really takes for the process to be completed.  Thanks for any info you could provide about your experience with this! :)

There is a contact formular on this site where you can contact the Danish Immigration Service. You are always welcome to contact them so do so.

There are no problems having a marriage certificate from the US acknowledged. You just go to Borgerservice at the local municipality.
