Hungarian Citizenship through Simplified Naturalization

Hi,

I am inquiring about simplified naturalization but I have an issue and was wanting to pick people's brains if they have gone through this.

My Grandfather migrated to Canada with his Mother on September 22nd 1929 and their boat left France on September 14th.

I have read that if someone has left Hungary before September 1st 1929, they automatically lost their citizenship.

I don't know the exact day they left, I have requested passport info and birth certs but seems very difficult to get.

Has anyone been successful with still receiving citizenship even if their family left before Sept 1 1929?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you- Koszonom

I believe you may be getting that confused with verification of citizenship.

I've known several who have had their forefathers leave in the late 1800s and still apply and receive citizenship by means of simplified naturalization.

AFAIK whether someone lost their citizenship or not has no bearing on simplified naturalization (just birth place), only verification of citizenship checks to see if they lost their citizenship.

Call your local consulate or embassy and they'll be eager and willing to answer any questions you have.
