Set up English tuition centre

Post new topic

Careena

Hi I'm a foreigner and like to set up the above mentioned center at Tự Duc. I have a Vietnamese Friend who doesn't mind to be my business partner. But we have no clues for company registration and procedures includes capital
Outlay for setting up a centre here.  Could anyone please share with me here?

Thank you.

@ Careena: regarding this you should contact a law service
I can introduce to you some of them if you want to

Reorandy

I am coming to Vietnam in June with my TESOL Certificate in hand and 8 years public school teaching experience teaching high school Chemistry and Physics on Maui, Hawai'i. Let me know down the road how it rolls and if you need teachers.

I just want Careena to not give up or hesitate with what he wants to do because of what you said.

My points here are:

+ I studied at high school where there are many teachers at many subjects: Math, Physic, Chemical, Literature, etc.
Did the Principal who hired them know everything about those subjects?
No, he didn't. Sometime he is only good in management.

+ I worked in a company which the director knew nothing about water engineering.
He hired water engineers to be his team and bid a big project and won it.

How is Careena going to know which people to hire? The answer should belong to him.
But he can ask them to show him their degrees (TEFL, TESOL - like Reorandy) and teaching experiences.

Yes, he need to check if they provide accurate information.
But in business, if he needs to know everything before start it, it would take forever.
Because how can he trust his accountant if he doesn't know accounting.
How can he trust the web designer if he doesn't know about web design, etc.

Careena

Exactly. Im not the one who teach. Lol. But many thanks to all for your feedback. I shall contact the law firm regards to this. Good day.

Dear Careena,

My name is Robin and I am from Singapore too.I have set up my factory in Long An Province.About an hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City.

For the lawyers here to set up a company for you is not going to be cheap. If you already have a company in Singapore,I suggest you go to IE Singapore for more information on setting up in foreign country.

Good Luck !!!

English Tuition Center?  Is the purpose to teach English or to to collect tuition?

I'm not too sure this smells like a rose though.

Good luck with your center, for recruitment, you should employ a fully qualified teacher, not just someone with a TEFL to run/ manage the center, they can deal with recruitment and training. Then they can employ TEFL/CELTA teachers to teach, providing them with training on up to date pedagogy regularly. This system works well, a friend of mine has an English and arts school in Shanghai and pays the manager a very high wage, due to having a BA, PGCE and Masters in Education from the UK, but all other teachers are TEFL/CELTA trained. They love working there due to the good quality training they receive.
I will be moving to HCMC in July, feel free to contact me if you need help recruiting/ organising PD sessions for staff, i hope your school is a great success.

Careena

Thank you Robin & Khuyen! I will contact IE Singapore and the law firms in HCMC. Keep in touch. Good day to all.

I believe from your prior post that you wish to reside in Danang.  There likely is more than one Thu Duc in Vetnam but I expect the OP is referring to Thu Duc district in HCMC.  That'd be a tough commute.

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

Just to inform you that some posts have been removed from this thread.

Thanks,

Priscilla

Careena

Thank you Hannah! Keep you posted.

Don't give up, KhuyenT. Follow your dreams and follow your heart. Everyone has an opinion. If you can dream it, you can do it. Stick to your values and I would love to teach at your teaching center. I have 8 years experience as a high school Chemistry and Physics teacher in America. You can make it happen

stephenkia

Careena

Hi Stephenkia,
I just arrived in Singapore few hours ago. I will visit Ho Chi Minh again on 27 March.

Are you looking to be in DANANG?   Are you a certified teacher?

GuestPoster348

He wants to open a school, not teach.

Reorandy

I am a certified teacher, middle school chemistry and physics and physical education and sport. Taught for 8 years in the USA in middle schools and high schools. I have a TESOL/TEFL certification from the International TEFL Academy. I was the top 5% of my class at the TEFL Academy. Seeking English Teaching Position in Da Nang.

Adverts are not allowed on the open forums so perhaps I could request you post in "Jobs" at the top of this page.

Your really need to go back to the original post and read it again.  The OP is looking to start a tuition centre (a somewhat suspect description by itself) and is seeking business advice to that end.  In her own profile, she describes herself as an entrepreneur, not an educator.  While there are valid arguments that a schools owners need not be educators, they minimally should express some kind of educational philosophy, at least something beyond collection of tuition.  In addition, the proposed center will be in Thu Duc District of HCMC and the first posting was on the HCMC sub forum.  You on the other hand have repeatedly expressed an interest in working in Da Nang.

I am sure that in your years of teaching you have had many students who want to know the answers without reading the materials provided.  I know I have.

Reorandy

Thanks for the clarification. l should have read the post closer. :)
