Shipping a car to Malta

Post new topic

ScottWHU

Hi all,

This is my first post.

I'm moving to Malta for work and want to ship my car over. I haven't owned it for long, so will have to pay the registration fee. I've looked into the cost of registration and I'm happy with that, but are there any other fees I'll need to pay once the car arrives? Can I get drive away insurance / tax?

Also, does anyone have a recommended company they have used in the past and remember how much it cost?

It would be great if you guys could let me know if there is anything specific to watch out for or rules I need to make sure I follow.

Thanks in advance :)
Scott

It's just like the UK, you need insurance - pay annually, annual road tax etc, and those costs about the same as in the UK though everyone is unique.

Thanks - I found a thread from last year.

If anyone has any advice or experience with using a shipping company it would great to have some recommendations.

shiplowcost charged me 900ish from near Thurrock all went well.

I used Express Group (Ship Low Cost) and it went really well. They are the cheapest option, very helpful, you don't have to deal with customs and you can even store items in the car.
