Hello everyone,

What were the biggest hurdles you faced when moving to Cyprus? Were there any services available that helped?

Which services helped you most upon your arrival in Cyprus? Were there any that helped you adapt and integrate in your new home?

Are there any services that you wished were available when you moved to Cyprus?

Did you find the price of the different services available reasonable? Were there any that were overpriced, to your mind?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I am in the process of looking for work to come and live in Cyprus with my daughter some time next year. So in your opinion Larnaca is one of the best places to find work? As many people say its Limassol really, any ideas?

Toon

Limassol Larnaca  and Nicosia are the main business centres here and as a result of that the work opportunities will be better

Thanks Toon. And rentwise which towns are better and could you live in one and get a cheaper appartement outside maybe as I will have a car?!

Toon

its always cheaper out of town

Thanks Toon (also a cat lover as I see ;-) ) ... any tips on spots?

Thanks

Toon

Thank you for all your questions I am planning a move from Canada next summer and all your questions are relevant to our move as well . And thank you Toon for all your helpful answers. 😊

Toon

we try  - sometimes i cant answer on some things as i havent the life experience to do so

but we do our best

Toon

Yes a cat lover and feral feeder and part of the Island's TNR program too...

Now have our cat brought with is from Malta plus Ginger(in the photo) who has adopted us and also a feral tabby has friended us too plus two of her kittens  = sadly we lost two of her other kittens to poisoning.

Kerryspirit

Ah that is fantastic. I adore cats too and was always rescuing cats here in Ireland and my daughter and me are part of the Animal Help Net Kerry. Unfortunately not much done for the much hated cats in Ireland :-(
In the moment I have three and for a move I guess I have to give them up which breaks my heart - but for the beginning when I am just settling and building a decent life for my daughter and me we need to minimalise as much as possible.

Thanks for all your tips Toon. i also am a proud owner of a halogen oven which I totally love especially the energy saving. For cooking I changed to a one induction plate which is also so handy and great so I guess that will help me in Cyprus too, anything .... every little helps ;-)

I again read very detailed your rental advise for newcomers and made me remember the time I lived in Greece lol so I hope I will be able deal with that (again). Also thinking of looking for rentals outside of big towns, cheaper, more quiet and with the luxury of a car I guess the best option.
Tell me how is the bus system outside of Larnaca, Limmasol (guess the best places to get a job), any school buses?!

Just planning our first holiday now in Spring to Cyprus to get a feel for the place and for me to get, now not only by email but also in person, in contact with recruitment agencies, estate agents, schools etc

Thanks again  :)
