I have just signed up to stay in a Suite Hotel in Amwaj. My rent is all inclusive of water, electricity etc.
But for my CPR i've been told a need a Municipality letter. I've asked the Hotel and they say fine that's 10%....
Am I doing something wrong or are the Hotel wrong
Any offers appreciated

Hi
Usually if its a fully furnished apartment then owners pay the tax and if unfurnished then tenants pay, having said that there is not set rule in Bahrain about who pays it, it depends on your contract with your owner, so negotiate the terms.

I'm not sure I totally understand your question; the title of this thread is Municipality Tax, yet your question is regarding the provision of a Municipality Letter for your CPR, which is a different matter. I believe the "letter" you are after is actually a document from the Municipality to confirm that your lease has been registered with them. You can do this yourself by taking the original of your lease to the local municipality office and getting it registered, the cost for this is only BD5.000.
