Non-EU + No Pink Slip = NO Way?

Post new topic

George Atef

It is frustrating ever since I have fallen in love with Cyprus 5 years ago, and have visited 10 times since.

Every time I go on tourist visa and job hunt (after applying online). I am 10+ years sales/marketing, with PhD.
But the ever elusive work permit has always been the problem.

I am coming again next week, but now job posts say "do not even apply if you're not EU or have a slip." They do not even want to meet me. I have tried all sectors.

Should I just give up?

Toon

you might try to get a job first and see if the employer will get your permit for you - - - thats the  way it works in other EU states -worth a go - good luck

George Atef

I am trying, but they want the applicant to already have the slip or at least be EU.

Thank you, I will be giving it my best shot (yet again) form within Cyrpus

Toon

good luck

Hey Georges.. Toon is correct u have to find a job first. No jobs are offered for non EU citizens. Locals and EU citizens are prioritized, u must have a skill or something to offer that no local or any EU citizen has, for them to make an exception.. .
When u get a job, the employer will do ur papers but it costs a lot for any employer to do ur papers hence they tell u come with an EU passport or pink slip already..
Good luck

Toon

jobs priority  - Local nationals come first, then EU nationals - then Non-EU/TCNs - its the same in most EU countries....

Ritta TT

yes exactly..

George Atef

Thanks Ritta, I am starting to learn that the hard way..I do not suppose I could offer to pay the employer for the permit?

George Atef

Thanks Toon, wish me luck...

Toon

i do mate i do  - its  a hard one to crack  - please let us know if and when you do manage to win through

George Atef

Will do definitely,
Appreciate the support

Toon

good luck

Ritta TT

hmmm I wouldn't think that is the proper way to do it..

Toon

i think that is probably more of a bad choice of words - - id suggest maybe suggesting if the employer was to apply for the permit  then he would willingly pay the bill for it.
