Footpaths

Have just returned to Nha Trang after being away for 7 months only to find that the powers at be have cracked down even more on the footpath seating pretty much stifling the small street vendor. I think this is a shame as you can no longer sit on the footpath and enjoy a coffee / meal and watch the world go by. I also think it is undermining the essence of Vietnamese culture. Laneways seem to be still ok and no doubt have seen their land value increase immensely since the recent changes. Surely though someone can see the error in this.  Why not allow vendors some of the footpath (1/2) as they do in other parts of the world so everyone can be happy ?

looks like motorbike parking is now limited to 1/2 the footpath whilst stores must have tables inside...I don't see why stores can't be able to use half of the footpath for outdoor tables as well ?

Big problems coming for Nha Trang Panda.
Infrastructure is way behind where it should be.  There's also "talk" going around that they may have to start limiting the number of Chinese tourists coming here.

The footpaths and roads can't cope with the Traffic....buses, cars, taxis, cyclos, scooters, cement trucks parked everywhere, concrete pumping , ...it's a zoo.    There only really two roads going north through NT.  Tran Phu & Le Hong phong/2/4 road.....that's it.  The others just finish in a dead end.

The parking issue is killing them.  The "haves" want their cars, BUT no where to park them and the roads are too congested to drive anywhere without being cut off by bikes.   Quicker to walk than drive.   I suppose the footpaths have to be cleared for people to actually walk , because as you know , it's common in NT to see tourists walking down the middle of the road because the paths are blocked. It's a disaster.

Did you read yesterday that the 48 floor Moung Thanh building is having elevator problems.  People have been waiting up to an HOUR for an elevator...😆  The hotel section on the bottom section is full of Chinese tourists running in and out all day clogging up the system which wasn't designed for the size of the building.   Bad luck if your in a hurry .     Infrastructure planning simply too late or not good enough.

Their now having meetings to discuss building car parking .   That'll be funny.

There's one big hotel here that in the last big rain had its underground car park totally flooded.
Full to the  brim with storm water & shite.   Peoples new cars filled with shit. 😀😀

And funnier still,,,  when the "relevant authorities" as they call them here , arrived at the scene they decided to take the  elevator down to the underground , & underwater car park to have a "look" .   dumb....or probably dead *** by now because Yogi thinks 240 volts and water don't mix very well😀

So Panda....it's gunna get worse , because as we all know , they only think for today.

A tram network would be something to consider ? The roads are certainly wide enough and it could run to the north side of the bridge and back.

They'll probably introduce a local airport tax at Cam Ranh soon to generate revenue.

Chinese numbers are through the roof, there were none here in 2012. Russian numbers seem to have dwindled though...

Planning and Viet Nam should not be used in the same sentence.

Yes the busses are out of control, they need to ban them from Hung Vuong and Nguyen Thien Thuat st's and on the connecting cross st's imo (any vehicle over 3.5m is out). They could perhaps build a ring road just out of town with a big bus depo and have a connecting tram line from the bus depo into the town centre. The tram could run down Nguyen Thi Minh Khai to the beach and back to the depo with a couple of stops along the way...with taxi ranks etc. In the future if they wanted to can expand the tram network throughout the city.
