Schengen visa, but no permesso di soggiorno

Good afternoon,

I am a US citizen and have the Schengen visa, Type D, multi entry valid for one year. I am still waiting for my permesso di soggiorno, but have the official receipt for the appointment with the Questura in February.

Is it ok to transit through Belgium on my way from the USA to Italy? I will not leave the airport, only arrive in Brussels, clear passport control in the airport, and continue to my connecting flight in the same airport from Brussels to Italy.

As I know you can travel with schengen visa anywhere within schengen zone so not problem at all!
