Hello,

We invite you to share information regarding some of the apps that have helped to facilitate your move abroad in Portugal. This will help expats-to-be who are making the move as well.

Which apps did you use while preparing your move to Portugal?

What apps do you use the most for your everyday life in Portugal: whether it's for transport, managing finances, general information, learning the language of your host country, leisure activities, etc.?

How does this technology help you in your everyday life as an expat?

Which apps would you recommend to expatriates in Portugal and why?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Google translate for phone it's a great help and if your out shopping or in a restaurant t you can take a photo of label or menu and it will translate quickly.  Perfect also for conversations with locals and it's been a great help for us with our Portuguese neighbour who is elderly and come an't speak English.  We've managed to have a few chats and managing to communicate well.

Picture this is a plant identifier and if you want to find out the name of a plant you take a photo and it will come up with a match.

Manything is an app for security and if you have two devices i.e. an old phone and your current one download the manything app and its quick and easy to set up.  The old phone stays at home as a camera viewer and while your out and about you can view in your phone or get updates if sound or motion detected.  Great if you have pets as you can also talk.  You will need to pay a small subscription but it works well and easy to set up.

Rome to Rio is a great app. just put in where you want to go from and to ( city to city ) and it finds the best routes to take via, bus, train, car or even walking.
