Greetings all,
My husband has received a job offer in Riyadh and our son and I will be joining him from NYC
Got a lot of concerns that I hope I don't inadvertently hijack this forum
Till later
welcome .. its a great city. v nice place to live. everything is available here. i know people from many countries living here , happy.
Salam. My name is Farish and i come from Singapore. I am in the midst of receiving my letter of employment and will most probably be in Jeddah from April 2018. I am a tax professional specialising in GST/VAT.
Looking forward to meet new friends! This transition period will probably be tough as i come alone without my wife and two young children. Hopefully i will settle down and stablise and bring them over in the future! I could definitely cope better by making friends!
My interests include Fresh water fish aquariums, working out in the gym( long long long lay off and in dad bod mode), cars and motorycles!
Do drop me a message/note!
Hello Everyone!
I am Hassan from Pakistan and have been to and worked in almost all major cities in the Kingdom - currently in Riyadh. I would dearly love to make acquaintance with anyone who is a fan of eastern/western classical music.
Also if anyone requires any information regarding basic necessities, I shall be glad to help.
Thanks.

Hello Everyone
I arrived in Khobar about three weeks ago and lived in Riyadh from 2013-15. I like this area very much. Am keen to meet people who want to drive in the desert/ explore KSA by car, not teachers if possible.
Thanks!
Jo
I am moving to Al Khobar in August; however, I am a teacher.
So nice to see so many folks in this forum!
I am moving to Al Khobar in August. I don't think I have concerns but have lots of questions about what is appropriate and not. I have lived abroad before, but it was not so much of a change.
I have been in-country for about three months now, working as a paramedic in Riyadh. I moved from Atlanta in December and am still learning about Riyadh and what it has to offer. This site seems like a decent place to look and so far I've only gotten one (explicit) porn spam message! I am looking to join a gym and see that 9 Round has several branches out here and since I belonged to one in the States I'm looking for any input that might be out here about it.
Thanks.
9 years in Jeddah and will be moving to Al Khobar by March 1, 2018 - Filipino

Hi there I need your help I am working for a princess but she is a horrible person treating me very badly. She deducts money from my salary for silly things and says its stated in my contract she can do it. But in my contract is nothing of any sort. I get horrible food and I am not allowed to go out and I work 17hours a day with no time off. I am a teacher with 3 degrees and its unacceptable to be treated like this. Can you assist?

I'm sorry to hear that Madeliene .. It happens .. But the best way for you to contact Two important contacts :
South African Embassy.. I guess your Embassy is strong enough to check about you and let them know your status very well and then they will call help from :
Ministry of Labor https://mlsd.gov.sa/en/node
My advise : keep that Contract away from anybody hands.. safe it in email as images or whereever .. the only evidence for you to take your rights ..

Are most of them travel from Jubail to RAK daily to work ?How long it takes to reach RAK by cab generally?
Is RAK not good for staying?
How about indian hotels in Jubail?Anything for entertainment in Jubail?

hey bro, all you need to submit is the authenticated docs of your school records, one with the red ribbon, you just need to attach the pdf copy on the SCE registration online, thats what I did a few months back, hope this helps.

Hi Madeleine!
It happened to a friend of mine before. if you have a friend who can directly contact your embassy here in Riyadh, that is the best thing to do.
there are two things for you to think about of the possibilities that might happen, It's either they will pull you out from your workplace while processing your documents to leave the kingdom or you can stay while waiting for your documents for exit. Second, you can still be patient and wait till your contract expires. but i guess it would be better if you contact a friend who can help you report or you yourself can report your situation to your embassy's help desk.
with regards to what happened to my friend, i reported his case then they pulled him out from the prince's house and sent back home to Philippines. God bless you my friend. keep us posted.

Looking forward to know of any weekly activities for individuals/families that's scheduled over weekends.
Hi all,
I have joined a hospital in Riyadh as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. And so far so good!
Hi there, I've been here about 10 years live in khobar was on oasis compound but thankfullY have moved off the awful place to much better one 5 mins away!
I'm a PT and swim instructor, I take various classes, spin, Pilates, beginner yoga, boot camp ( I'm quite a task master!) circuits, swimfit, and various other classes.
So obviously I enjoy doing things that keep me fit and healthy , I use to do sprint triathlons but got bored so turned to spartan! Love being muddy and dirty, tom boy at heart!
Here i cycle and walk a lot, ( yes OUTISDE you know the normal way of life everywhere else) I really don't need to get a taxi/ husband to transport me 10 mins away! 😂😡
I'm planning on furthering my fitness and am very much believe that body/ mind and soul need to be fit and healthy together and in sync.
When not in the sand pit spend time on our huge project in rural France, that we are turning into a Spa Fitness Retreat - (FB tranquilite et solitude) it's a LOT of work, I also visit U.K as well if in Europe, just need to buy decent food, have decent facials, beauty stuff, and hair treatments!
Apart from keeping busy with fitness and studying more, there's also a dog, and 2 cats to look after, all 3 enjoy going for a walk - which amuses people when we are out one compound - makes me quite stressed cos cats don't really stick to the rules!
While being here have travelled a lot, and hopefully will be gone next year...but I have a feeling being in one place won't fit after being here!!
Namaste M!
Tomorrow Sat 24th in the afternoon I will be at the Kingdom Center .
If anybody wants to join for coffee and conversation let me know (all main western languages spoken!)
Hello how are you?
