Hi! My husband was offered a job  in Amsterdam paying up to 40k per year and we are moving there in June. We have 2yo kid and a kitty. Currently searching for a flat/house furnished or unfurnished at max 1300 euro a month. Any areas to avoid looking? Is the sum enough to have a decent life? Or what else should i keep in mind. Any answer and help would be really appreciated

Welcome to the forum  :)

I suggest you read through posts here for information as it has been addressed before. Try this site www.numbeo.com  I use it when moving to a new country to work.

For accommodation check the housing section at the top of this page.

Thanks for replying. I searched before i wrote the post but there were only a few houses posted, and questions adressed before were at a much more higher sum and not containing details about where it is best for living

Hi and welcome to the Forum. :)

There are several agencies in Holland that specialise in rental properties; one of which is Pararius; this link will take you to a search I just created based on a 30 km radius of Amsterdam (you can change it to reflect a bigger or smaller area).

I would also recommend the Numbeo website; it is much more than just costs; if you check the top of the Numbeo page, there are links to other subjects that may be of interest.

Hope this helps.

Hi @nida91,

I am in a similar situation.

Cost of living depends on multiple factors like where you are moving from, your lifestyle, family needs etc,

For me, moving from Australia, it seems moving to Amsterdam may not be feasible given the salary and cost of rent, school/daycare, utilities, etc.

Check this thread for some responses.

Also, numbeo.com can give a good comparison of costs.

Good luck

Thank you
