Hi and welcome to the Forum.

At the top of the page is a link to our Handy Tools section; if you select that, you'll get access to our expat guides; these contain Information that may help you plan your journey.

Once you've read our Expat guides, if you have any further specific questions, please come back to us.

Hope this helps.

Hi Cynic.

Yes I have read this but still more questions, All I know is that I need to find a job (sponser) there first. Then what..  Do we need to get married (gay marage) do we have to apostile the marage certificate, do we need to get Unabridged birth certificates, etc and should they be apostiled? What other documents neet to be in order and what forms should be completed.

Thanks

Hi and welcome back.

Yes, you will need to find a job.  The Dutch system is much simpler than many others; in one respect, should you be lucky enough to fall into the "highly skilled migrant" category, then it's really quite simple as your future employer does the most of the legwork for both you and your partner (and no, you don't have to get married to emigrate to Holland).

I always express job searching like this; to get a good job anywhere, you really need 4 things:

Relative skills
Relative experience
Speak the local language
Luck

The more of those you can tick off, the better chance you have of finding that good job.

Your profile tells me you have an interest in Avionics; assuming you actually have some transferable qualifications (EASA-Part66 qualifications are an absolute must to get any aircraft maintenance work anywhere in the EU) and experience, that may well get you into some aircraft maintenance work.  If your licences and experience are on current aircraft, then you may well fall into the highly skilled migrant category.  Google will help you find potential work; unless you have the very unique skills and qualifications, or think you may fall into the highly skilled migrant category, don't send speculative CV's; most agencies and HR companies will throw them in the bin the moment they realise your not an EU citizen and/or living in Holland.  Find the companies on Google, then phone them.

Any Government issued/sponsored non-Dutch documentation (so, birth and marriage certificates, you are required to provide as part of the Immigration process will need to be apostilled by the national Government that issued them and if not already in either Dutch, English, French or German, translated into one of those languages.

Finally, language, my opinion is that in Aviation, English is the default language, but if you are coming to Holland, then life around you is in Dutch.  Your profile tells me that you "speak Afrikaans, understand and read Dutch"; Afrikaans is a mixture of Dutch, German and African tribal languages as it was spoken 200 years ago; nobody in Holland uses Afrikaans, although, like your Dutch, most Dutch speakers can understand and read it.  So, it should help you learn to speak Dutch, my advice is to start learning to speak it; it can only help you get work and integrate into Dutch life.

If you have any further specific questions, then please come back to us.
