EP rejected due to recent travel to SG?

Post new topic

Hi, I was previously working in SG under S Pass for 3 years but resigned in May this year, got a job offer in SG and they applied E Pass for me on 4th July, then I checked the status online twice today 17th July (morning it showed still Pending, evening earlier it became Rejected) so I'm puzzled as to what's the rejection reason.

I did traveled to SG for 1 night last week to meet up a friend under tourist visa (no entry issues) while the application is still Pending, is that a factor of rejection?

Another thing to note is I read upon this in the pinned topic.

1. A Singapore work pass can only be applied for by a Singapore-registered employer willing to hire you. They must submit the offer letter (accepted by you) and full job and salary details. They cannot apply before this is settled.

I have submitted all the relevant documents to the HR (passport/education certs) but I was confirmed for the job verbally through the phone when I was waiting back at my country for the interview result. The HR mentioned they will let me sign the offer letter once I got the IPA approved to minimize the amount of trips I need to take. Could that be the real reason behind the rejection?

Thanks in advance.

Visiting here for a day or two should not be the reason of rejection. Rejection must be due to stringent selection process while issuing EP or S pass at MoM in recent times. As you didn’t tell much about your position, salary, experience and educational background, it’s difficult to say which section could have a potential reason for rejection. Good luck

Also, having the contract not yet signed is no reason for rejection - although it is a very unusual proposal for an employer, especially with the justification of "saving you a trip" (Have they never heard of the postal service???).

Thanks for the replies.

To surya, my details as followed:
I'm from Malaysia and was working as a customer service officer in SG for 3 years drawing $2200 monthly, recently gotten a degree in HR (part-time). The new offer is of similar job scope and salary is $2400 monthly. I think I should ask the HR to apply S Pass? SAT Tool shows that I'm eligible for both SP/EP.

To beppi, actually the saving the trip part was my idea, I told the HR I didn't want to have multiple trips to get things sorted out and they told me I can come to SG to get everything done and ready for work once the application is approved.

Another question, when I was hired for my previous job 3 years ago I was told to fill up the EP/SP application form on my own, but for this new job I wasn't told to fill up the form... is this correct?

If you are a non-Malaysian then your salary and experiences, you won’t get S pass (leave alone EP). But as you are a Malaysian, where the salary yardstick is much lower. So, you should have got S pass with this experience and salary. But as I said due to strict guidelines and selection criteria, your current work visa didn’t get through, I recon. Try another employer with better package and position. Good luck

Note: MoM doesn’t recognise any part time or distance learning courses including degrees. So, your part time graduation won’t be recognised here.

My part-time degree was done in SG during the period of my previous job, I saw the university's name listed in the SAT Tool, so it still doesn't qualify as long it's part-time?

It is the employer's responsibility to fill in the work pass application forms. It is o.,k. for them to ask for your assistance in this, but not required.

The rejection was not due to any of the reasons you mention.
But without knowing all the details, it is impossible to know for sure what caused it.
I suspect the very low pay (degree holders must normally earn at least S$3000/month to be eligible).

Thanks, I'll check with the employer what's the rejection reason as I can't check from my end.

Same time it’s now a routine check at MoM with the employer that provide a valid rationale on why they hired you instead of a local. Secondly, provide an evidence that they had interviewed local candidates and couldn’t find the same level of skills what you have possessed. So, check with employer whether they had received such request from MoM and if yes, then how they clarified it. Thanks

Are you sure distance learning certificates are not valid,I just checked assessment tool and do application there is option for distance learning,if any one hit EP with distance learning ,please update here

surya2k

You can input those distance learning courses, the option is there since ages, but it doesn’t have any value addition to your application.

You can check with MoM, if your distance learning degree certificate is considered as a normal degree certificate and consider for EP?

Any one here who got EP with distance degree
