Hi everyone
Has anyone gone through the citizenship process after 6 (now 5) years of legal residence?
I am wondering if I can do it myself or better to hire an attorney/notary??
I already have the 5 years of legal residency
Can anyone reccomend suggestions??
thanks

alex

Hi Alex,

do you speak, write and understand Portuguese language ?

Normally, you could go through the formalities all by yourself but if you don't master the language, perhaps it would be better to enquire first from a professional.

Also, i think one of the criterias for eligibility (apart the 5/6 years residence) would be the language skills.

All the best,
Bhavna

Hi
thanks for your reply.
Yes. I know the Portuguese language well. that is not an issue.
I am traveling and I imagine the paperwork is signfiicant. So if I had someone
reccomended to assist at reasonbabe cost would be useful

There are some professionals recommended in the business directory. Recommendations can be seen by the number of thumbs up. : Legal services in Portugal

Hope members can provide you some feedbacks soon though if they have been through the process.

Cheers,

if i were you, i would go directly to the conservatória dos registros centrais. they will give you all the info you need. you can do it yourself. won't need to hire a lawyer.
