Hi. I am Mojgan from Iran.I have PhD of environmental science with a good resume. I like to find a job in Norway. I have been there for 6 months for sabbatical and i love Norway. Can anybody help me please?

stevemartinov

You have a phd and can’t simply look through LinkedIn job postings?

mojgan1366

I applied in LinkedIn, But i couldn't find any job yet

fornight

Did you try registering yourself with job agency?

mojgan1366

No, because there are many agencies for finding job, but i can not afford expenditures.

fornight

Huh? It is the employer who will be paying those agencies if they hire you.

Ok first I will ask the obvious question, do you speak Norwegian?

Pretty much all the environment jobs require that you are fluent both in writing and speaking. The English only is very niche and is mainly the oil sector which is shrinking. The Norwegian environment agency - Miljødirektoratet also sometimes employe people who don't speak Norwegian but it is rare and in very specialised fields.

The best places to look are linked in and Nav. Nav is free and has a large majority of all jobs advertised and is available in English. None of them will cost you.

Pretty much all job applications are on line so you don't need to be in Norway and because of the distances Skype interviews are normally ok.

Lykke til

J

No, i can not speak Norwegian.
thanks for your guidance.

Hello,

I am from UK and lived and worked in Norway for over 5 years.  The larger corporations (Statoil, Shell) to name two you will need to apply to Employment Agencies or they won’t touch you.  Omega is one that I can help you with but you will have to do your homework and send an updated CV to each and every one.  Also most won’t sponsor you so you’ll need to find out if they accept you into the country to work or if a visa is needed ( if you are living out of Norway) you need the permission so to obtain a tax ID number.  If you were to write to many of the agencies you will hear from someone.

I hope that I have helped and I wish you good luck and success with your job search.

Warm regard...

thank you so much for your reply. I can work everywhere in the world. Canada, Uk, Norway, Dubai, Oman etc.
I can send my CV to you. could you give me your email?
thanks so much.

Hello Mojgan,

Go to Nav.com there are jobs everywhere there and I think there is something in it for you.  Unfortunately I wouldn’t be of any help to you but just with suggestions for I too am looking for work.  Just to let you know with regards to Abu Dhabi/Dubai if you are anything but American or British the pay isn’t that great and the cost to live there if the company doesn’t pay towards you expenses it’s not worth it to work there AND if you are unhappy with work there it is very hard to obtain a new job unless you get permission from the company you’re with to break the contract.  All I am saying is do your homework if you do decide to work in Abu Dhabi / Dubai.  I know this through experience.  Norway pays well.  Again check out Nav.com lots of jobs worldwide.    Good Luck, Nancy

thank you so much Nancy.
