Importing personal items with only a holiday visa

Post new topic

Greetings!

My puzzle is this: I’ve set up a lovely home in Patong with my Thai girlfriend. We’re living in bliss, and now I want to ship my personal items over from Wales - however I only have a holiday visa which I keep extending to 60 days then popping over to Cambodia so that I start afresh each time I return to Patong... surely there must be way of doing this. I’m looking for advice:. So far I’ve concluded that the only two options are: find someone who’s on a 1-year visa and get them to import my stuff as if it’s theirs, or join a language course and apply for an Education Visa. Both may tirn out to be mind-bogglingly expensive (tax, duty etc). Does anyone know of a cleverer, cheaper way of doing it?! Help very much appreciated!!

Only someone with one year Non-Immigrant visa and work permit can import duty free provided its done in first six months and items are used/secondhand.

Other long term Non-immigrant visa holders must pay duty and it must be imported in for six months.
