Hello again guys

My last step is obtaining a visa for myself and my friend who is traveling with me.

I know there are a few ways to do this , so im wondering what is the easiest (and cheapest) way to obtain a 1 month visa to vietnam.

The travel agency sent me a link to a government(?) website and i see from research there are 2-3 other ones that people recomend, although some fo the posts are quite dated .

So if you guys were traveling for your first time to vietnam, how would u go about obtaining the visa ?

I am leaving in about 1 month from todays date so would like to get it settled asap.

Thanks again in advance

The Vietnamese embassy in Ottawa is the most surefire way to obtain your visa.  If there is a large enough Vietnamese population that you can find a Vietnamese owned travel agency that may be a good alternative.  If you buy your tickets through them, they should be willing to send off your application to Ottawa for you.  If you  don't want to trust an agent you can go to Ottawa yourself: https://vietnamembassy.ca/consular-serv … plication/  Strangely enough  :/ the Vietnamese embassy in Canada only accepts US$ but you can use a credit card if US$ is inconvenient.

I am sure that others feel differently and someone will suggest a visa-on-arrival company but personally I feel that nothing beats a visa that you obtained directly from the government glued securely in your passport.

Thanks for the reply

I am too far away from Ottawa to go there to get it but ill see if maybe I can get in touch with them on the phone .

But yes I was also looking into the visa on arrival , im just worried about having some mix up and when I get to the airport they are like "sorry we don't have you on record"

So I may get two visas from two different sites just to be safe

Im looking for the top most reputable sites people are using for the visa on arrival

Thanks again

I believe Canadians can get Visa On Arrival for Vietnam. I'm in the US and have gotten VOA twice and it was easy. If they offer a service to have someone meet you when you land to help you process your VOA, I would recommend you paying a little extra for the service. They usually cut through the line and get you your visa paperwork quicker than you waiting in line yourself. I'm sure there's kickbacks involve but not something you have to worry about.

I used this site.

I had it easy in Vancouver. A Vietnamese travel agency made it sooo easy. good luck. also I have a nice house with an extra room if you need a place to crash when you arrive. my email *** I can speak some Vietnamese too.

thanks again for the advice and hospitality guys

If I order the visa online here in Canada, do I get the visa at the airport here in Canada or do I get it in Vietnam ?

Im assuming id need it before I get on the plane but just want to make sure

Also still hoping to hear more about which sites are the most reputable and safest to use

Thanks

Didn't qnbui give you a link?  The fact that nobody came back with another probably means that company is popular.

Of course you know my opinion.  I think you got the whole thing backwards.  It should be visa first, ticket to follow.

im sure his link is fine but I just wanted to be sure by hearing other people confirm or post their thoughts

I don't get visa first because I based my travels on when I could get a deal, so I got the deal on the tickets now I need the visa

Is there any reason I would be denied? From my research doesn't seem to be

I spoke to the embassy in ottawa and i will be going this route

They actually issue you the visa and not just an approval letter , so this way seems best for me

Ill update once its completed in case anyone in the future has the same issues they can read through this thread , thanks

Just to follow up THIGV's method of calling the embassy in Ottawa was the way I went, and it worked perfectly

You pay the fee, the info needed , the online application ,and they literally had it at my door within 3- business days .

so thanks for that , and would recommend going this route for any one in Canada coast to coast (they ship it to your door regardless what province your in)

Also eXdol, thanks for your friendly offer , im in ho chi min now and loving it , I really appreciate your offer .

Thanks guys much appreciated

He really did give you the best advice, for your situation.

Visa on Arrival (VOA) is most helpful for those who want a "business" visa, but don't have a sponsor name to provide with their application.
