Post new topic

Hi Guys,

I suppose to join my new employer in Netherlands, My employer asked me to provide BSN number. Can you tell me the process of getting BSN number from INDIA.

Thanks,

Cynic

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You can't get a BSN number from anywhere abroad.  The BSN number is allocated to you personally when you register with the local council for where you live in the Netherlands; you have to do this within 5 days of arriving in the country.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Thanks for reply.

So currently, If I am not in Netherlands, I wont be able to get BSN. right?

What maximum I can do to book the advance appointment in town hall. Actually, my employer was asking for BSN number and I think I will not get it, until i do not present physically in Netherlands.

Thanks,

Cynic

Book it on arrival and you have an address to register from.

I'm surprised that any employer is offering people work without first having checked they have gone through MVV and have the sticker in their passport.  This could be a scam.

aneesh

Right now you have a NL visa stamped on your passport I assume (which you may have applied and got based on your job contract). As cynic mentioned, once you arrive here and have an address, you register to the local gemeente (townhall) to get your BSN and residence permit. Employers know that the employee can get a BSN only when he/she physically arrives here and makes registration with the gemeente.
