Registering a business in Bulgaria

Hi all,

I would like to start an online business (a consultant) in which everything will be done online (via emails & phone).
Since I will be dealing with clients credit cards and must issue invoices, I have to register a business, and Bulgaria seems like a great option since the taxes are so low.

I've already spoken with a few companies which offer their services of business registration, local address, accounting, opening a bank account, etc and the total cost is around 2500 - 3000 euros.

While that seems legit, since everything is done remotely I have some concern - don't want to be scammed.

So my questions are basically:
A) Paying 3000 Euros for that service is reasonable? (it sounds reasonable to me - just want to make sure)
B) Anyone has experience with that and can recommend a legit company/lawyer that can help me with that?

Thanks,
Ben

Hello good afternoon,

I work for an accounting and consulting company in Sofia and we deal mostly with foreigners.

I can tell you that it’s a little bit too much, in my opinion is not reasonable (it is if there is a full year of bookkeeping inside).
I can say that, for a normal LTD, we charge the half, and we are not even close to the cheapest option.

If you need more information just write me a PM, I’ll be glad to help you with this.

Have a nice day ;)

Hello BenBen,

Setting up you company in Bulgaria is a wise decision. Recently many greek companies moved here, lots ot BPO from the entire world, IT companies too, and now Romanian companies are  moving their headoffices in Bulgaria.

What you can benefit from is 10 % corporate tax ( + 5 % divident tax). The VAT is 20 % for most services (except e.g. tourism).

Prices for setting up a business in Bulgaria vary in quite broad limits and very much depend on the included services. Just as an example:

1. Setting up a company (opening a bank account, preparing all the documents, arranging the Registry Agency listing and Bulstat No.) can cost you between 300 and 1000 BGN for an LTD.
2. VAT registration also varies (but you cannot do international business without it) - let's say 600 BGN.
3. Electronic signature was about 200 BGN last time I needed it.
4. Cash registers - depending on type, number etc. - e.g. 300 BGN.
5. Local address is normally charger per year, there's no fixed price but probably between 50 and 100 BGN. If you need an actual office - much more.
6. Accountancy services - at least 300 BGN per month / still depends on number of invoices, number of employees etc.
7. POS terminal - additional 70 BGN ( could be free with some banks)

And you can extend the list with several more services. So it is really important to see what exactly the price covers.

And in addition prices vary significantly from one company to another, some companies can charge you 10 times more.

Hey,

I decided to give him more informations via PM because I work for an accounting company, and someone told me that here is against the rules to advertise :D

Well, I can say that the majority of our clients pay roughly 100€/mo for bookkeeping (25invoices max), 20€/mo for company address and roughtly 800€ to open the company. Those prices include everything (VAT number, VAT declarations, Annual balance, etc.)

We are not the cheapest firm (we aren't even trying) and we are not the most expensive one, but I found our prices correct expecially for the quality of the services that suits perfectly the foreigner customers.

Prices for accounting may be rise a little, but opening a company + VAT Registration + bank account are lower.

But your user experience depends if you are non-EU or EU citizen.
