I've been with my boyfriend for 6 years. I am a US citizen, he is a Serbian citizen. I'm tired of only getting to be with him 3 months at a time. I tried to go to a Serbian language school, but found out they wouldn't allow a Visa for that. The option we are considering now is to get married. I was wondering if we get married, would I be able to get an extended stay because of that? ?Or would I have to continue to leave every 3 months until I finally become a citizen after 3 years of being married?

Hello:

To begin, please check the information available online:

https://zuniclaw.com/en/temporary-residence-serbia/https://zuniclaw.com/en/residence-permit-in-serbia/https://law-firm.rs/serbias-new-law-on-foreigners/

More information should be available at the MUP.
It also does not hurt calling the Consulate.
Please verify the information before doing anything.

I hope this helps you start.
Good luck!

If u marry, u automatically qualify for longer visa. U could always do this. Every 89 days, take a drive to Hungary, Bosnia, etc. The 90 days in 180 is never enforced. Just leave county every 89 days and register with police upon return. I've been doing it for 2 years. Was a good excuse to see a lot of europe. Ryanair makes it cheap :) plus bus to Budapest only costs $50 each roundtrip. My wife and i did this method. I never had a problem..
