How long will I get my tax return after my tax clearance?

Hi Members/ Gravitas,

I just left Malaysia and moved back to my country for a new opportunity. I'm wondering how long will I get my tax return back?

My story is I started a job in Malaysia on August 1st 2018 and I just left Malaysia a week ago on March 23, 2019, I only left Malaysia 2 times (10 days and 7 days during my time in Malaysia) so I believe I was a tax residence even I haven't received any tax residence certificate.

I did my tax clearance on March 22, 2019 before I leave so I have few questions:

1. Will I get my income tax return back? In the first 6 months from August 2018 - Feb 2019, my salary was deducted 28% for each month.
2. If yes, How long does it take to process my income tax return back to my bank account ?

I did an E-Filling for my 2018 income tax + declared my 2019 income tax with my tax clearance's documents.

Please advise me.

Thanks you,
Johnny

Sorry to say you were non resident for both tax years so no refund is due. This is because you were not in Malaysia for 182 days in tax year 2018 (Jan-Dec) or 2019. (Basically the misunderstanding is all that is required is to be in Malaysia for a Total of 182 days.)

Thanks Gravitas for the information.
