How to get married in Bahrain

Post new topic

I am Russian marrying Bahraini man. We submitted documents to sheikh for marriage, but after 2 weeks he returned it saying we need my fathers letter to have a stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also the letter from the Russian Consulate to be translated into Arabic. Initially dad’s letter was not verified by Notary and parents live in a village far away from Moscow where the Ministry is located.

Question is whether I just need to have a notary verified copy of the letter and to legalize it here or I really need to go the more painful way to put a stamp in the Ministry (for that I need to return to Russia) and then legalize it in Bahrain??

I think your option is clear.  They have specifically asked for a MOFA attested letter.  So you are going to have to provide it.  Try with the easier approach but usually in this part of the world, when something is asked for officially, you HAVE to provide it.   If you approach with wasta before the official request is made, there are usually compromises that can be made but not after.

Hi@Xtang,
Where we could find wasta for this kind of situation?

You need to have contacts - either you or your husband to be.  That's what wasta means.

You just don't find wasta lying in the road :)
