Hello All,

I am an Indian national residing full time in Singapore for the last 8 years. My fiance, who is a French national, and I have decided to get married in June 2020. We have decided to get the civil marriage done in Lyon, France followed by the religious ceremony accompanied by our families (My family will fly from India) and then another ceremony in India after a month. i have a few things i need to clarify. Any help would be appreciated.

Proof of residency in France for at least 30 days prior to the application, for at least one of the parties
on an online website, i saw these information:

A valid passport for both parties
Original birth certificate for both parties
Certificate of celibacy, stating that you're not already married
Affidavit of law, stating that you're free to marry and your marriage will be recognized in your home country
Prenuptial agreement, with a notary’s certificate, if you plan to to have one
Divorce decree, if you were married previously and divorced

All those documents will be easily obtained from indian government and the high court. That is no problem. My question is that do i need to be present in Lyon to submit these documents or can my fiance (who is going to Lyon next week can do it for me). Also, is it too early to do all these paperwork?
And is there such a thing as Fiance visa? or do i have to apply for Schengen tourist visa everytime i go to Lyon and as well as for marriage?

Thanks so much.

Once you are married, apply in India or Singapore (French consulate where you are living) for a visa as a spouse of a French national (validates to a residence permit in France). Then you renew this in France (usually each year for several years, then you get a longer one).
This is assuming you are going to live in France.

@ejazaamir
Which passport do you have? Only Indian one?

Your boyfriend can nearly prepare everything without you.
At some point he might need to have a proxy from you that state: Mister xxx, my future husband, is allowed to represent me about our futur wedding planned in Lyon. Blablabla
+ a paper you sign that you want to get married with Mister xxx in Lyon + your signature has to be legalized/apost.

It really depends on what the town all do required, he might need it or not.
It's definitely better if you can send him your certificate of birth + Certificate of Marital Status in advance (+ stamp on it from India) (valid 6 months!), he should be able to handle the rest by himself.

@Jessie262
Yes, you can get married through a tourist visa or visa-free depending on your passport.
Schengen Visa (type C) allows you to travel everywhere in Schengen states. (UNLESS states on your visa that you have a LIMITED country where you can free go)

Through don't forget that you need several mandatory papers before leaving your country (certificate of birth, certificate of celibacy, ... + translation/legalized/apost.)
You can't forgot a single one!
