Hundreds of years ago, people were relocated here in order to establish a post station - to receive and transfer messages in and out of the fortress. Stone tablet records show that Chinas official postal system started150 years earlier than that of Europe. The village is still encircled by (nearly) complete walls and maintains most of the original architecture, temples, and costumes. It is reminiscent of Pingyao but has not yet suffered the trials and tribulations of mass tourism.
1n 2005, the World Cultural Heritage Fund listed the Post City as one of the Worlds 100 Endangered Cultural Heritage.
Lunch: At Guanting Reservoir with a view of the lake and vineyards.
Afternoon: A tour of the vineyard and the winery, including viewing the wine making process and tasting several of the chateaus representative wines. The explanation will include how to recognize different types of wines, classification of wines and wine specific vocabulary.
