Hello

I am hoping someone maybe able to help or point me in the right direction please
I am a UK Citizen, born here, and want my Egyptian partner to come and live with me in the UK
I have looked on the GOV website but it has totally confused me with which Visa would be the correct one
We are hoping to get married in the near future and for him to stay here, we have no children together and will not have any
Thank you for any help

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Not easy; the basis of family-based visas are based on a previous, existing, long and lasting relationship that you wish to continue together in the UK; so for example, as you are not married, that you have lived together abroad (they are looking for 2 years) and now wish to continue that relationship in the UK; you need to be able to prove this.

There is another option, a marriage visa, where he can apply for a short-term (6-month visa) to come here explicitly to get married, but he can't work on that visa.  Once you are married, you can then apply for a family visa, but there are hurdles you have to get over (income and healthcare are 2 that spring to mind).

There is a chance of a work-visa.  You haven't told us what your boyfriend does but there is a thread in this Forum called "NON EU CITIZENS APPLYING FOR A UK WORK VISA" where it explains what options are open for him; my advice is to read that and see if you can find a job category that he is qualified for and then he has to find a job.

Hope this helps.

How long is your relationship, and did you meet in the UK abroad or on the Internet? What are both your religions?
Do you have a job that could be easily useful in Egypt, or does he have the same to come to the UK?
