Hello everyone,

Reaching the decision to seek divorce can be hard. Filing the papers as an expat in Morocco can be as taxing since a good grasp of legislations is needed and the process can prove to be tedious.

Where and how do you apply for a divorce in Morocco? How long does it take for the process to be completed?

If the couple has children, which measures can be taken in order to protect their interests?

Which procedures should be completed so that the divorce is legally recognized in the country of origin?

How is divorce viewed in Morocco?

Being away from one's home country and loved ones, what advice do have for staying strong emotionally and mentally in this situation?

We meet and married in the United States in 2015, All praises to Allah, we are still married and happy, and living here in Morroco away from family, but thanks to apple's facetime we stay in touch monthly.

Ending a marriage is never easy, especially if there are children. Staying strong emotionally and mentally is difficult for all involved. Divorce can be ugly no matter where you happen to live.

I would suggest 1. Self-care, 2. put the children first because they will be the ones hurt most. 3. Remember all good & bad things come to an end in this life. (smile ) 4. If possible, end on a good note for the children. 5. A Family Law Attorney!
