For anyone interested, the national museum has a very good permanent exhibition about Singapore’s history from the first known human settlers til today. Well worth a visit!

Another very interesting place to visit in Singapore, and very often overlooked since there are now so many other great places to visit in Singapore is the Civilian War Memorial located along Beach Road. This stunning memorial was also commonly known as the "Chopsticks" memorial as it resembles two pairs of chopsticks pointing up towards the sky, each one representing the four main ethnic races in Singapore.

The memorial was designed by Mr. Lee Kwan Yew of Swan & Maclaren architects, who was educated in at Oxford universoty and who was a personal friend of mine since the 1970's and who sadly passed away some years ago.

Both Leong Swee Lim and the Civilian War Memorial are important in the history of Singapore.
