One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest! Filmed at the Oregon State Hospital! I was at the filming almost every day and met a lot of the cast! Ken actually worked at the hospital at one time! Dr. Dean Brooks who passed away last year was his inspiration for the book! I was a member of the chemekatan's and spent many days climbing throughout the Cascades with Dean! Ken actually was along on 2 trips while interviewing Dean for the book! Had the best clam chowder in the world at the Sea Hag with the second unit tech crew while doing the coast filming! OMG those were the days!

if you do a quick google maps at the corner of Center street and 14th street you will see the bridge from the movie where the bus is stopped in the movie on the way to the coast! Salem, OR btw

Did you meet the patient the  chief was based on?  Sometimes I have a great notion to visit that place.

lasvegan

No! We weren't allowed inside the wards when they were filming! But Will Sampson talked to us a lot! You know he was a Used Car salesman until he met Michael Douglas on an airplane and sat next to him and when they landed Mike asked him to show up for a screen test and the rest is history
Chief Bromden! From Joseph OR I believe! It was all back during 74-75
Can't remember like i was could! Pushing 74 now lol
Crew used to sit under the 14th street bridge a lot and eat lunch! The city didn't want them setting up all day long as the traffic on center street was a mess! People stopping and gawking!

The hospital has been renovated now and you can't recognize the area they filmed in! I think there might be pictures of the plywood they used to screen off the outside while shooting inside! We threw snowballs at it in January

You were on that thread last night right?

You made a comment about an ECC and I asked you about it.

Was it an A or a B?

No
Furthur! At least in Eugene that is the spelling used! My son Brendan is in his Master's program there in Linguistic's and he has done several papers on the Down the Road Gang! U of O go Ducks! The bus is still waiting for Zane to finish restoration! At least it's not in the pond any longer! I haven't kept up with it much over the years but Brendan does! I guess he actually listened to all my stories!

lasvegan

Thanks Mugtech for the trip down Memory Lane....LOL!
Donations for restoration can be found on twitter at @Zane Kersey
