help, need work permit and visa have a misdemeanor charge

Hello, I really need some help, I’m being offered a job at a really great school but I have a dui misdemeanor charge from 29 years ago. Will this prevent me from being able to obtain a work permit and visa. I cannot get it expunged in my state.

AFAIK, you may be able to get a check from the local VN police if you have lived here for 6 months. I'm not particularly sure. I also remember people mentioning a police check from their last place of residence and also getting a document from the US State Dept stating that you had no outstanding warrants for your arrest or something.

The school should be providing you with advice about what documents you need. What did they mention?

I have experience in applying Work Permits and Temporary Residence Cards for foreigners working/doing business in Vietnam. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions on relevant matters. For your case, you can just simply apply for a Criminal Record in Vietnam (in the city where you are staying/going to stay). However, prior to obtaining the Criminal Record in Vietnam, you must register your temporary residence with the local policemen. ****
