Hi to all in Viet Nam. Making my 7th trip to this wonderful country in September. Already have some exceptional friends there but always on the look out for new people to communicate with.  I enjoy sharing  experiences, both positive and negative. Look forward to hearing from you.

Christine

Hi satch36,

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

lostsouls

You happen to be arriving in the same month as me....:D:D

satch36

Thanks for the welcome Christine and for lostsouls comments.  Hope to have some worthwhile dialogue over the coming months.

Do you happen to like Joe Satriani's music???:D:D

satch36

Hi, Lee Chee Siong.  I have used all three of you names, as I am not sure which is your first name.  This is where I will learn a little more, when you advise which one I should use.  I am not aware of Joe Satriani but I believe he is a 'rock' musician. Basically, I enjoy all kind of music, from classical upwards. If I hear it and enjoy the experience, then I will listen again. This is why I keep returning to Viet Nam.  I visited for the first time in 2004, enjoyed the experience and have since returned 6 more times. I hope this answers your question.  Is there a special reason for your asking?

hi newbie!! i think you are really well- traveled :) how jealous ! i'm vietnamese but i haven't even visited or enjoyed the other parts of my country... i hope you would be able to travel along the country. then it must be very interesting to sharing :P  hihi

satch36

Thanks snownau.  On my previous trips to your country, I have spent most of my time in HCMC.  I have been to Nha Trang, Vung Tau, the Mekong.  This time I hope to visit more places.  I just love your country, the people and your culture.  I hate the term 'Third world countries' to my mind it is demeaning.  Be assured we have a lot to learn from you and we should take every opportunity to do so. In many instances you may feel 'poor' but you are rich in giving respect and friendship, thanks.   John

Hi muontrovevietnam.   Thanks for your response.  I had an idea this was how names were written but rather than offend, I thought I would ask. I have learned never to 'assume', always ask. John

When I am in Viet Nam I will base myself in HCMC and make my trips out from there.  Any tips or advice will be gratefully received.
