"Also, 80% of CDE's prison is infected."

If you get arrested by Paraguayan police, would you be willing to go their infected jail or fight them to death?

I ain't vaxing and I think getting  warranty on anything outside the USA is not worth the hassle...Brasil is bad enoughgetting a warray here respected  is hurry up and wait maybe it wI'll get repaired in a year and the flip side try getting them to take the shit back...mother mccree...or a refund, when they say ppint of sale, its true...I will die before I vax.....had a bad experience with doctors I would be dead crippled up and dead listening to those quacks....trust me....I have freinds who were doctors and they quit...lol...I hate 2 doctors....hope they got #19 and not survived....the bastards......bad doctors, bad cops...lol

I'm no anti-vaxxer,  but I'll be in no rush to take a vaccine that's rushed into production because lots of people believe it will be a magic bullet, either.  We still have no idea what the immunity profile of this virus is, and naturally, we know nothing about the safety of efficacy of vaccines that are barely  into tests or still in development.

I'm often an early adopter when it comes to technology, but in this case, I'll be waiting for them to get all the bugs out -- in every sense.

I ain't vaxing for No One.....I have had the flipping cold or whatever the fugh it is and survived thanks to the antibiotics I keep on hand....if it ain't over the counter a doctor can do nothing for me...I ask the doctor would he prescribe for themselves  and family. ..that makes then STFU.....I hate 2 doctors in particular and the rest I treat with salt ....lol....Fugh a Vaccine...to old for that crap..

I ain't vaxing....that's my story.....it's called "Practicing Medicine", football, baseball, basketball players practice also....it's like Practicing Law...let's see if this works....that's all they do is practice..hoping it works.....I practice staying healthy and away from quacks and Lawyers...lmbo....

Yep.  We haven't been back since Christmas 2019.  Starting to miss seeing family, even with constant (sometimes TOO constant!  ) texting, daily Slack, and lately,  Zoom.

We were all going to get together in Italy this year - E and I have even been learning Italian on Duolingo,  so we could do more than nod and smile when we get there - but that's on hold now.

Hang in there, stay safe,  and don't do anything rash.

Who isn't eligible for a stimulus check today?
Before looking at who might be eligible for a second stimulus check, let's review who's been excluded in the first round.

A single taxpayer with an adjusted gross income (AGI) above $99,000
A head of a household with an AGI over $136,500
A married couple with an AGI over $198,000
Children over 16 and college students under age 24
A nonresident alien as defined by the US government

Info on 2nd Stimulas, if there is one......

Who could potentially qualify for a broad second stimulus payment?
Individuals who made less than $99,000 according to the adjusted gross income from their 2018 or 2019 taxes (whichever was most recently filed).
College students, dependents over 17, disabled relatives and a taxpayer's parent.
Families of up to five people.
People who aren't US citizens and file tax returns, pay taxes and otherwise comply with federal tax law using an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) instead of a Social Security number.

Well guys, no good news as 31 states in the US is flaring again with our friend COVID. They are now saying it´s out of control and will now be harder to prevent spread. It appears that my return to the states is further pushed for delay.

GuestPoster204

I also gather from other sites that those who filed the 2018-2019 taxes who reside overseas but have a direct deposit of SS in the US shall be receiving their stimulus payments through their bank accounts by late July...

Grizz, you would be surprised as to warranties. As long as they are an approved rep of the company (Apple, HP, Dell. Samsung, etc) I can go a few miles and get repaired. Whereas In BR I have to send to SP/Rio for repairs.
You will find many US labels, discounted liquor, electronics about the same price as the USA.
The only thing is being sure you are in a major shop, not a "mom & pop".
As to Mulheres. since the BR/PY war, the senoritas outnumber men 2 to1. Now many are, let's just say, "weathered".
When to border opens, give your email and I'll pass along.
Most of the fine senoritas are in Foz where the $$$ is.

I always considered Foz as a strategic point in military parlance. Good for shopping GI goods at Ciudad del Este PY, beautiful señoritas, and if the dollar becomes 1:1 due to hyperinflation, CDE is your refuge. Grizz, you should now be setting up your reconnaissance camp there now ready to engage just in case Brazil sinks to the abyss. I believe you can even set up a dollar account there.

We stocked up on electronics while we were in Foz, and quite frankly, figured "screw the warranty!"  We followed Tex's advice and only went to legit shops  - there's a travel agency in Foz that makes it really easy - and got international-grade items at a good price.  I trust them as much as or more than the comparable models that meet Brazil specs, and cost 50-100% more here.  And really, how often have you needed to use a cellphone warranty, and how happy have you been with the result?

Tex is right about warranties here.  We tried to get warranty repairs on two Brazilian items.  One we were refused flat out, the other we waited six weeks for the repairs to be completed, and the thing burned out again in a month.  And this is a "benefit" of buying Brazilian?  :/

The only real hitch at Foz is the 100% Customs inspection on all outgoing domestic flights, but if you don't go hog wild in CdE, you'll breeze through that.

Texanbrazil

Many of the senoritas work in Foz, so a base camp could be Foz.

Doc, True as to money. They love U$D more than Foz.

I had a Brastemp fridge repaired in SC and never got it back. I waited for 2 years to be repaired and finally the repairman stated that it was brought away by flood waters after repeated checks which brought a lawsuit at the local Procon. Procon of course favors their citizens and the guy paid me back a dilapidated old appliance that I gave to charity. What´s the point with warranties in Brazil?

robal

Texanbrazil

Agree and they push extended warranties more than the USA.
No thanks..........
Purchased a new Brastemp washer (even hot water for small loads) last week. Asked if he worked the warranty, he said no because he never gets reimbursed.
If the "hot water is anything like the showers and sinks heaters, they will last a month.
Today big storms. Half city w/o power. Thinking a gas water heater to mainline, but may not live long enough to use enough water to justify price. :joking:

abthree

Robal wins today's Brazil Warranty Horror Story prize:  that one will be hard to top.  And it happened in the "Sul Maravilha" - imagine it in the North or the Northeast!

GuestPoster204

And the repairman an Italian descendant in a hugely German colonized area. Supposed to be a trusted scenario right? Wrong...

GuestPoster204

Dayuuum and I thought it was just me....maybe I will just buy used it comes with no Warranty or Hassle....I mean you get it just Str8...no haggle, no flood (lmbo)...
