New EP application approval during covid19 for an existing ep holder ?

Post new topic

Dear Forum Members,

I anxiously with lot of hope putting this question here..

I am an existing ep holder working in SG for almost 3 years in IT , I came to Singapore on EP in August 2017.

I changed my job in December 2019 in a local SG company but now unfortunately due to covid the company has laid off few people and I am also one of them.

I had already gotten a new job and they applied for EP on 25 June 2020 and the status is still pending.

It has been almost more than 4 weeks and still pending for approval.

After checking with employer I found out that MOM has some concern with this employer and this is first time unfortunately they are taking long time for the ep approval.

Now i am in a scenario that I am stuck and I had already resign as my current employer asked. as MOM has told them we may take 3 months at least to process the ep.

I have another offer which I think would be better for me , shall I ask my new employer to withdraw my ep applicationwhich is in pending stage and ask the another employer to apply the pass for me.

As I don't have much time left and I may have to go back.

What would be your advise, kindly guide.

This question has been discussed multiple times in recent days. It seems you didn’t read previous threads. Start reading those threads, you will get most of your answers.

In short, yes you can request the employer to withdraw their EP application and share your thanks to them for the support once they will withdraw, new employer can proceed with application. Good luck

You said you were laid off and a few sentences later that you resigned. It is never a good idea to resign before the next EP is approved, if you want to continue working in Singapore.
You can of course ask the new employer to cancel their ongoing EP application, but there is no guarantee another application is processed any faster (as it would have to start at Zero again).
If your post-EP SVP runs out and you cannot secure any other visa, you will have to leave Singapore until the EP is approved.

What I understand from your PM that MoM asked additional documents which means they are reviewing your application. So, you may analyse that those documents which MoM was asked for are related to your education or experience or anything else. So, you need to have patience as the outcome may come anytime. Good luck
