Info regarding international tourism.

Post new topic

Arcadieus

My girlfriend follows some Filipino reporter back home *apparently this guy is in the know and the government is afraid of him?* International tourism will resume in May 2021 and a vaccine will also be available by the end of April. Clearly this is all subjective, but she said this reporter is extremely reliable and has the connections to know this info.

It would certainly be nice, and I suspect the timelines will be late Q2/Q3 2021.. I know I'm not planning on getting on a 14hr flight until there's a vaccine. Nor would they let me in without it anyway, with the pandemic raging uncontrolled here in the US.

Wow the Philippine Govt scared of some local reporter?...He must be very well armed with a still camera that has stilts that form portable bazooka tubes or something...even that I'm sure won't worry DU30 & his team one bit.
I sincerely hope/pray we do get full tourism back by late 2nd Qtr.. but I'm not seeing that info anywhere...also one should consider the fact that richer countries get the 1st batch of vaccines followed by the rest of us, so further delays may be expected & for full tourism to get started that may take even longer...with millions upon millions of people having lost their jobs/livelihood/loved ones due to the pandemic will find it tough just getting by...just the thought of tourism must be the last thing on their minds right now or in the near future.
Omo.
Anyways best of luck to the ones with tourism on their minds.
Essential travel thats a different ball game...I too need to get back home by May 2021....fingers crossed.

Does your girlfriend have a name? The reporter that the government is scared of? We here in the Philippines are scratching our heads and can't see the government being scared of anyone or thing, let's not play a guessing game as I'm and sure others including my Filipino better half are curious.

Cheers, Steve.

I would offer also that the Philippines government is slowly getting this pandemic under control, like a lot, the people have done this (mostly) by listening to government mandates and abiding,,,,,,,, Why would this government let tourists from predominantly first world countries with rampant cases of C-19 into the population here? Vaccinations/quarantines aside it's like letting the tiger into the rabbit hutch.

Hey, OMO.

Cheers Steve.

I think there is zero chance that anyone, in the government or outside of the government, knows the answers to those questions.

Arcadieus

The reporters name is Raffi Tulfo. Like I said it's all subjective, but apparently he is pretty reliable with information.

bigpearl

Yep well known but I and only my opinion that the Philippine government is not one bit scared of him. He does a good service for injustices both private and even against government officials within the law. Any law biding government official or private citizen has nothing to fear from this man.

The information on tourism can change from day to day, why would a country battling with and finally controlling C-19 open its borders to foreign nationals with ridiculously high infection rates?

OMO.

Cheers, Steve

I think it has something to do with which bitter pill to take, whether red or blue.
The government need to restart the economy (i.e. tourism, etc.), and on the other hand prevent the virus from causing the health system from getting overwhelmed.
Whatever the government decides on, people will say 'wrong'.
The media will have a feast running stories like flies to a stinky mound.
.
I am now planning to vacation to the Philippines August 2022.

Gotta just hope for the best at this point. Vaccines are coming. One way or another everything will be reopening.

The Philippine government just signed for a procurement of 2.6 million doses from AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine (British- Swedish  drug maker) Meaning  only 2.6 million doses allocation for the Philippines from AstraZeneca.

The remaining 57.4 Million doses as part of 2021 budget is still looking for vaccine suppliers and would be signed later as soon as vaccine maker would commit to supply to the Philippines.

Would the 2.6 million doses enough to cover for people in power, rich people, influential people and those with connections?
What about those in the frontline? 😷

Click on link expecting information instead get rumor from radio host that everyone know in whole nation. What is his field of medical expertise? Is he vaccine specialist? Immunology? that right hes none of that and he has no idea what lies ahead just like none of the highest medical authorities knew

You see what happen when Europe open up? Big boom in covid.

You think vaccine is magic wand? Somebody talking about Astra Zeneca did you even read anything about it beyond the news on TV? Astra Zeneca has lot of problems from day one. Now suddenly they say 70-90% effective whatever that mean. They allsaying now 90 something % effective and stock all shoot up. ok pin hopes on vaccine people who got no information and dont understand anything got nothing else so do that.

but if vaccine is your hope then think you gonna be sad

even though they gonna make the whole world take it still wont stop covid

and you gotta keep taking it because they have no data showing immunity beyond few months

they even warning that you shed live virus after taking it and also said lot of people may not want to take the second shot cuz the side effect of the first

but i say it again you seeing right now happening exactly what i said in the past and this too you will see in the future let the ignorant hatefest  begin

you go follow every rumor that confirm your bias now that good for you

thanks for what you heard at any rate.
all info is taken into account and time will tell.

Well of course its not enough but what the country can do it they were not given a preference by the COVID 19 vaccine suppliers?

For so many vaccine suppliers only AstraZeneca signed an agreement to supply that very little number of doses therefore the Philippines should reach out and be sure to secure a contract with every country that produce vaccine to meet the preliminary requirements of at least 60 million doses

Is the Philippines already open for international tourism in 2021?
Are the restrictions relaxed a little for incoming tourists?

Getting worst day after day

AaronAardvark

Unless you have family here, you probably won't be getting in any time soon.

SIRV investors can get in. (If they haven't changed that because of the mutated worse virus.)

What happened with the "Tourist bubbles" test?  Still open at Boracay and Panglao?

AFAIK the program in Panglao is still open, but just for Domestic tourism. No foreigners.
