Can someone suggest a sensible expat forum with sensible moderators?
Only other one that springs to mind is internations but they charges monthly fee
Posting things about beastiality and necrophilia on most forums will gain the same response from moderators. Its a forum about living in VN, not sexual preferences of people.
Surprisingly, your latest thread was up long enough to receive a couple replies. Did you think that your particular topic was somehow related to Everyday Life in Vietnam, the forum on which it was posted?
When Colin wrote that since the topic was not at all relevant in the mind of a great majority of people, the question should've been whether you have interest in it, you acted as if you were greatly insulted and demanded that his comment be removed. Tell me, what do you see when you look in the mirror?
Now, as the thread was deleted, very justifiable so, you complain about the insensitive of moderators. How sensible was your motive when you created that thread? How would you like a team of responsible moderators react to your for-shock-value topic? Allowing you to continue with the thread is not sensible, it's irresponsible.
You were already banned once earlier this year. Are you staging an encore with your action today?
Come to your senses and you'll find sensible ex-pat forums with sensible moderators! Searching the boundaries of free speech/expression can come back like a boomerang.

With all my senses intact, off-topic is not the same as offensive.

Would you discuss beastiality and necrophilia with your gf, wife, sister or mum?
I think no would be the answer, therefore, its not really off topic is it?

A question, are you saying someone discussed "beastiality and necrophilia" and then complained that they were called out that it's not a discussion to be had on an expat site?
Well in my experience its not an everyday thing for anyone to perform illegal acts so why would anyone be talking about such things?
Maybe find a crime discussion website where it may be a topic there?

Your previous post was suggesting my comment was off-topic. Please re-read your previous post.
BTW, I think you may be confusing mentioning something by way of comparison with 'discussion'.

Please dont twist things around. My point was and you know it, was that other forums would treat you the same way and remove your post.
Not sure why you want to make such a big issue about this. Your EVN posts have been going for months and you still continue to rant about such a trivial matter.
Maybe its time to relax and not let the small things take over your life.
Maybe try this forum, not sure if it would be a good fit for you.

Even FB groups have rules, which among the top violation is "nudity or other sexually suggestive content". The OP's last topic left suggestive in the dust; it's outright offensive.

To be honest, I'd rather take lifestyle advice from someone on a bar stool.

Sorry, I don't follow links Willy-nilly. From the link url I can see that it's a facebook group. Not much of a facebook 'groups' person. Are you?
I think I'd rather talk to my girlfriend, wife, sister or mum about this if the opportunity ever comes up AND they had any clue what I was talking about.
Mind you I have spoken about my posterior with a family member in the past, so these topics...why not?
It's quite noble of you lot to defend this virtual establishment, but i think those with even the slightest bit of sense can see that you are fighting a lost cause.
GLobetrotting french expat sets up shop in a nondescript location in the Indian ocean. Hires some staff on low pay to watch his forum. Staff don't really understand some words and phrases. Need to look up the words in a dictionary. O!, look!, definition has the word 'sexual'. Must be 'sexually suggestive content' or was it 'offensive' content. All the same, right?
downward spiral to the bottom (no pun intended) continues.
You are the only one defending your post and comments....think about that for a moment!

posting things....on most forums...same response... 'things' and 'most' is a bit vague isn't it?
Have you looked into this thing at depth or have you been bestowed with supernatural powers to become fully aware?
BTW, this comment (about the thing) by a forum expert was accepted and has stayed on the site for over 7 years:
https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.p … 94#1588354
Here's another one from the same expert:
https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.p … =2#1279995
Same forum, different rules for different people, or is it the ole 'things were more relaxed 7 years ago' nugget?, or perhaps Indonesia is different to Vietnam?
BTw, I've taken screenshots of the above two posts by expert. Just in case they do a David Blaine disappearing act.
Oh dear, you are really clutching at straws.
Here is a tip, dont PM me again for advice. It's obvious you have some serious issues you need to work on.
Good luck with your next epic bike tour, the last one was a complete failure.

Unfortunately, you didn't give me much advice. Only your (incorrect) phone number.
Anyway, I was asking about Vung Tau to Nha Trang. Not about the current Vung Tau to Da Lat trip.
BTW, I can tell you 'good luck' is no substitute for hard work.
...the last one was a complete failure.
Sorry you feel that way. Perhaps you wouldn't mind mentioning this at the outset and on the correct thread.

Tell me, did you purposely join this forum to have multiple fights and slag off the forum founder? if you don't like, value, want advise, tips from people on here why not do everyone a favour and take your highly valued self opinions somewhere else?
I for one didn't join his forum to read slagging matches with moderators and members - if you don't like it grow a pair and stop fighting with everyone or move on.

If you start your own forum somewhere, it will immediately have two members and you can continue to reply to your own posts as you do here.
BTW, I've reported this thread to Admin.
Code of Conduct reads:
"The forum can’t be used to promote external groups or organizations."
That's the very premise of this thread; asking for people to promote alternative forums to Expat.com

Thank you for your suggestion (as opposed to promotion) and keeping the thread focused.
Pretty sure you are not affiliated with internations in any form.
Yes, I saw that they charge a monthly fee. They do however offer a 30-day trial. I've signed up. May continue after the trial if it turns out to be a nice friendly forum.

Does this mean that anyone who recommends a Facebook group is in violation? That seems to happen rather frequently here. Maybe we have more than one violator on board. Personally, I avoid Facebook if I can because every click makes Zuckerberg richer.
If you want to see an example of over-moderation look at Dave's ESL Cafe. It used to be full of informative and lively discussion until about two years ago the moderator, a Mr Kaigukshi (named for a Korean soup,) started strictly enforcing a 300 word limit and banning people as a result. Right now the most recent post on the Vietnam page is dated April 26, 2020. I can't see why their advertisers are still around.

He's confusing the code put in place to prevent members from promoting their business publicly on the forum. Usually, you see this with new members unaware of the rules posting their name or business name and phone number, email etc on the forum, when they should actually be starting a classified ad.
