Seeking for information about LTVP Card in SG

Post new topic

Hi Guys. I have some questions which make me really nervous these days. Therefore, I log in here and hope you guys can provide some information and advices for me.

My spouse is Singaporean and I am Vietnamese. We have apply Pre-Marriage LTVP in December 2020 and it has been approved. However, my spouse will quit his job on 5th April 2021 and try to look for another job afterwards . Also, I'll come to Singapore to get married in June 2021 (We have booked ROM).
So I wonder will it affect my LTVP application since my spouse will quit his job this April ?

Furthermore, I know that ICA asks for 12 months payslip if you want to apply LTVP for your future wife/husband ? I tried to tell him to hold the job till I come back but he's so stressful and tired so he has no choice but quit and find another job :(
I've read some articles said that the background is also important. My spouse works in DBS Bank for almost 2 years, he's 32 now, his salary around 4k+ and I used to study abroad in Singapore, 28 now, got MBA degree and has come back to Vietnam since Oct 2020.

I've written an email for ICA but still not hear anything from them yet. I'm super worried about this. I hope I can get some advices and information in here. Thank you so much. Hope you guys have a nice day.

Your spouse should show the income for you both to stay here. Even bank balance would suffice for this need. But I think for short term there is nothing to be worried. Your LTVP is already approved but it’s better you too can try to find a job and if selected then you will have your own work pass and no dependency on LTVP. Good luck

Thank you so much for your reply. It's really helpful to me

Hello I'm sorry for piggybacking on your post,

The thing is I'm planning to marry my long term gf of 9 years and she's a SG-PR and I'm a NR. We were planning to apply for a LTVP for me but sadly there is no PLTVP for SG-PRs so I just want to know if it would be a good idea for me to apply for the LTVP right after getting married to her or would it be better if I just went back to my country and applied after a specific amount of time?

Thank you!

beppi

Muon: This decision is up to you.
If you intend to stay in Singapore until the LTVP is approved, make sure you have a visa valid long enough to cover the processing time. (I assume she has the required minimum salary of S$6000/month and you do not intend to work in Singapore?)

Muon

Thank you for your reply. She is currently earning around 4k and I hope to work in SG under a LOC. Have they increased the minimum salary requirement recently? I would definitely prefer to get the LTVP before I leave as that would save me the trouble of going through SHN twice, but I read in another forum that applying for LTVP right after getting married increases the chance of rejection. Just wanted to clarify if that was the case. Also, the official site says it takes around 6 weeks for an LTVP application, does that timeframe still hold with the pandemic?

6000sgd is required for pass holders to sponsor a DP holder, but not for SCs and PRs sponsoring an LTVP holder.

Nellyanne is correct in saying that there is no official salary threshold for LTVP-holding dependants of citizens and PRs. But experience shows that they do still look at the salary and reject if there is not enough for a living - citizen's spouses are sometimes admitted below the S$6000/month, as required for a DP (this was increased from S$4000 in 2017).
And the LoC will be abolished at the end of this month, so you will not be able to work, unless you get your own work pass (which is increasingly difficult). So you'll only have her S$4000/month, which is not enough.

nelyanne

beppi, I also believe that the new changes introduced from 1st May are specific for DP holders only. They won't affect LTVP holders (spouses of SCs/PRs) and they should still be able to work under LTVP.

beppi

Nellyanne: You are right, as shown on this webpage by MoM:

Thanks for correcting my misunderstanding. So work on LoC is still possible for LTVP holders. Of course we don't know what the approval criteria are and how they will be applied.

Muon

I see. Well considering the information I guess I'll give the LTVP and LOC a try. If that fails I'll try my best to get myself an EP.

Thanks again for your responses! Appreciate it!

I am speaking from my experience as a LTVP holder married to a SGC. We gotten married in SG and then apply for pre LTVP with ICA to assess my chances. We do all this while I am still in Malaysia and my husband in SG. Its got approved pretty fast (within a month) and i gotten my official LTVP in 3 months before i move to SG. But of cos I have also gotten a job in SG which pay above $4K before move officially to SG. I also hold a MBA which definitely help.

Higher education and other relevant professional certifications/ credentials most certainly add credibility and make your candidacy as an applicant strong. Plus you are more qualified for the jobs that are available here in SG. Glad to know you have a good job.
