DP, Entry Application and Residential Address

Post new topic

Hi,

I'm an EP holder residing in Singapore planning to get married overseas later this year. I'm also planning to apply for DP right after the marriage. On the other hand, my HDB contract will be expiring right on the date of my planned departure.

I was wondering if I can do the following to save cost since I won't be back to Singapore for 2-3 months. Rent a storage space for my things until I go back to Singapore, and only sign a contract for HDB/Condo after we arrive in Singapore. A few things come to my mind:

1. I'll end up with no Singapore residential address while I'm overseas. Is this allowed? MoM mention we need to update a change in residential address in 5 days after the change. But I only have overseas residential address, or can I change to overseas address temporarily?
2. If I didn't notice MoM on my residential status, will this affect the DP application?
3. If I didn't notice MoM on my residential status, will this affect the entry application for me and my spouse later?

Can you guys help advise me on this? 3 months rent is quite a big saving if the above plan is possible.. Or let me know if there's any other better way to save cost

Thanks!

1. You must register a local address where you are reachable. You can use your employer's address for this, or a friend's.
2. and 3. Breaking the rules is never a good idea in Singapore.

Thanks for the reply beppi!

I didn't know it's possible to change the residential address to my employer's address. Because as per EP: Notify MOM of Changes the address need to meet the Housing Requirements. And this doesn't include office buildings? Also if I use my friend's address I need to be registered as tenant?

You should be a tenant, no matter whether you have occupied entire unit or a single room but that suppose to be your address. Unless employer has provided executive unit for some senior management employees then that address can also be mentioned.

If you are staying in your friend’s place then show that your address.
