My name is Tony D’Onofrio. My wife Karen and l plan to retire in Italy in 3-5 years. I am an U.S. citizen living near Seattle. My wife has Canadian and U.K. citizenships.  A few years ago my daughter Nicki and I were granted Italian Citizenship through lineage. While I wait for retirement, I am trying to get my head around the U.S./Italy tax and Social Security consequences of living there full time. What’s definitely more fun is looking for places to visit and consider living.

I am anticipating same. I live in NY and would like to find a small village or town to retire in. My plan is when it is safe (probably not until the Fall), going for three months and moving from town to town every two weeks, living like a local in different regions . I have a great Italy based Italian teacher, and took the MOVING TO ITALY class which covers everything, including financial, taxes, retirement and location. Happy to share these resources which have kept me engaged and positive while I prepare for this big move. My email is [link moderated].

I urge you to check out the free You Tube videos made by Davide Mengoli of the Salento with Love real estate business. Very informative! We are a U.S. retired couple who just bought a holiday home in Southern Italy and he walked us through everything without charge. Honest man!

HI Tony
I am trying to explore the same "venue". What are the tax implication? How would I pay taxes being outside of the USA? Is there really a tax savings being outside? etc.
If you find something, would you be willing to share some info?
I would greatly appreciate.
Thank you,
Andy
