Clearing Customs

Any advice on bringing personal care items into Thailand such as beauty care products? My spouse has makeup, hair products she likes from the US. Any chance things like that get confiscated at customs due to quantities or types of products? Thanks!

20 % VAT on imports over 40 $ US. Under 40 has no duty if its a gift . Use DHL or similar company , if using thai post chances are it will be "lost"
Put a very low valuation on the invoice and it will get through ok .
Where possible put the address in thai and english, saves any confusion.
Most good stores in Thai Citys stock high end  American goods

Terry, thanks for the quick reply. These will be things in our suitcases. Does the $40 limit still apply?

Nothing to worry about then , the bags wont be checked unless there is boxes and boxes  and it looks like a smuggling operation . If its all for personal use yous will be fine . They are quite lax about checks , Iv never known about any issues in 20 years other than unusual amounts of cigarettes.
Enjoy  your trip

We go back and forth to the US. 6 months there, 6 months in Thailand till the Virus hit. We were bringing 2 years worth of vitamins & cosmetics. We never set a cost value of more than 100.00 dollars. We have been doing this for 10 years, no one ever says anything. Just don’t make a big deal about what your bringing back. We also bring a shit load of clothes from Eddy Bauer outlet, Costco, Old Navy, and Columbia. Clothes in Thailand don’t fit American sizes.   Patrick
