Extension of STVP by 1 day? Return to Singapore on new Visa?

Post new topic

GK24

Dear All,

I would like to explain my situation. My EP is expiring on the 3rd of May 2021, and if I am not wrong the 30 say STVP that will be granted will be valid until 2nd of June 2021. However since the situation back in India is not very safe at the moment, I have decided to fly to Hong Kong under the Air Travel Bubble. But the earliest flight I was able to book was on the 3rd of June since the other earlier ones sold out very quickly.

Now in this situation, will I be able to ask my HR to submit my Hong Kong itinerary and ask for 1 day extension of my STVP? What are the chances it will be approved? As of now there are flights back to India under Vande Bharat Mission, but I have no idea why these have not been cancelled given the situation there - Flights from India have been cancelled, but from Singapore back to India haven't!!

Since Singapore is within the Hong Kong travel bubble, will I also be able to apply for a Singapore Entry Visa with ICA and return from Hong Kong a few days later? Thanks for your help!

Flights from Singapore to India do not add to the infection load, so there is no reason for the authorities to ban them.
You have good chances to get the short extension if you (or rather, your ex-employer) show the already booked flight.
Once in Hong Kong, you can apply for a new entry visa - but of course there is no guarantee it would be granted.

Thank you for your reply!! @beppi

I was wondering whether if I have a local contact of SC or SPR can I apply for entry visa early (around now so that I have a guaranteed visa before even leaving SG)?

And in terms of the 1 day STVP extension, I believe I have to request my HR to apply extension 7 days before expiry, and in the case MOM does not get back to me within the 7 days/ rejects extension what do I need to do? Can I walk in to their office with my itinerary and request?

Worst case scenario...is there any possibility that I can exit Singapore immigration on the 2nd night, and stay in Airport Transit until 3rd June flight?

Not sure what triggered you to book a flight to HK. If you go to HK then there is no flight from HK to India. Then what would you do there? If you are thinking of returning back to Singapore then there is a high possibility that you may deny entry as you don’t have valid STVP.

I have mentioned in another message thread that from India to Singapore still flights are running but as per new guidelines only Singaporeans and PRs are allowed to board. There is no such restrictions from here, people are taking special flight going back to India but have to book in much advance.

You can apply for it, but there is no guarantee that it will be granted. And neither that you will get the entry permit that is also required (due to COVID).

Yes, one or two days before expiry of your STVP.

This might be legally possible, but not really practical. (I don't think you can check in that early!)
