Hi everyone,

My name is Olive and I come from N. Ireland. I moved to Cyprus in 2018 to the village of Apsiou for several months. I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the village to do some writing, but then I decided to move to Limassol. I am now enjoying the diversity of the city and the proximity to the sea. I continue to write and since I have TEFL experience, I will also explore my options later in the year.

Cyprus is such a beautiful island. During lockdown, I had time to take take many pictures of my surroundings. I then developed a blog for my church to display the beauty of Cyprus and share devotions and Christian thoughts: ***
My site contains links to my Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Looking forward to more expat experiences.

Hi Olive,

We have a little problem when looking at properties on line.
We have 2 small dogs and are definitely bringing them with us, the problem is that we don't know if the properties we would consider buying would allow the dogs. It's not like here where you buy a property and it's up to one whether we have pets or not.
Have you any idea how we would find out if the dogs would be welcomed, without contacting the agent about every property we like?
Sorry if I am disturbing you but it is important to us.
Kind Regards x

It may be harder as many complexes don’t allow pets but some do if they’re well behaved and smaller dogs ... I think you need to make that a condition of the search criteria when approaching an agent ....  good luck in your search

As Toon said, best to state this. Don't feel you are bothering the agent, it's important to know before buying the property. Some advertisements for property also state rules about pets, but it is best to have clarity.

One of the most important issues about buying a property in Cyprus is title deeds. Only buy somewhere with title deeds ready to be put into your name. A friend of mine has had issues with this.

Many properties here are advertised as deeds available this usually means the owner hasn’t got them or hasn’t applied for them so it’s an extra cost or you negotiate down to cover those costs and this might be upto €10k. Others are advertised as with title deeds so go with those unless you are happy to get a massive discount for not having deeds, and are prepared never to ever get them .....Also be aware many properties will never ever get deeds as the developer despite having sold the properties he may not have completed the works and until he does title deeds cannot be issued. Note that developers do a runner or have gone bust leaving those owners with an almost unsalable property.      This happens a lot here.. Many owners will never get their deeds.
