Moving to Saudi for one year

Post new topic

I have a high chance to move to Al-Khobar town close to Dammam. Right now I am living in Romania, Europe.
My employer is asking me to stay in Saudi for first 3 months. And this is a difficult point in our negotiations due to personal and family reasons.
Do you consider this a normal request?
What kind of visa do I need in order to travel easy in and out of Saudi?
There are any restrictions?
Thanks.

Hi,
I traveled last year to Saudi Arabia and stayed there for almost 4 months. I obtained my visa same day at the airport and had not issues or inconvenience at all. However, if you are going there for work, I believe your current employer should support and assist you with Visa or work authorization diligences.

Good luck !

Bună, my guess would be it's about a business visa and you need to make sure it's a multi entry one,but my issue is why it's  not an iqama one. You need to ask your employer.
Bafta!

Multumesc. It looks you speak Romanian.
And yes I am just in the middle of negotiations with my employer in order to understand the options. As a first offer they told me to stay the first year on business visa with multiple entries and to pay me locally in Romanian Banks and I have to use personal cards to spend money in Saudi.
Again they requested me not to leave Saudi for the very first three months. If the second year everything will be ok they told me that I'll be employed by a different very soundy local company on Iqama and I can relocate my family in Saudi.
Thank you again.

Be aware of a few things:

1) Legally, you cannot work on a business visit visa.   It is a violation of labor law and if caught, leads to deportation.  However, companies routinely do this as they may not have a quota of work visas/Iqama
2) This means that you are NOT a legal employee and if anything goes bad with your employer, you are not going to have any legal rights to end of service etc.
3) Without an Iqama, forget about bank accounts, mobile phones, vaccines and literally everything else.  As you are not counted as a resident.  You also cannot sponsor your family to come live with you
4) Be ready to exit after every 90 or 180 days and then re-enter as you can't stay indefinitely on this type of visa
5) There is also no point to the 3 month period.  This is not legally required on this type of visa

Thank you a lot for your comprehensive answer. Now I got the points of my entire negotiations.
