EP Rejected due to Salary Hike

Post new topic

Hackerbot

Hello All,

Recently, My EP renewal got rejected and the reason provided by MOM is due to Salary does not meet candidate credentials. There was a 40% salary bump and previously, my salary was low and I got a promotion and the organization gave me a hike. Can someone let me know what are the chances of getting approval for appeal? The appeal has been made last week and waiting for a response. Total years of exp is 10 and my field is IT.

Was your salary adjusted to the (for MoM) acceptable level?
Or did the employer make other changes or justifications?
This is required for an appeal to have a chance.

Yeh my salary got adjusted now and I am eligible for EP as per SAT. Before hike I was not eligible for EP.

Employer has provided justification to the MoM but waiting for result. My question is what are the chances of getting approved if any anyone files an appeal or success rate. Did anyone went through these type of scenario recently and got the approval?

The processing officers at MoM are just ticking boxes at all the approval criteria. Unfortunately, not all the criteria are published (and some are subject to change without notice).
If you are ineligible according to the SAT, there is no point applying, as rejection is certain.
If salary is adjusted during an appeal, to fit within the SAT eligible range, this still leaves a negative mark - as obviously the employer doesn't know what they are doing (or, even worse, may make false statements and will not in reality change the offered pay - which is of course illegal).  Hopefully other aspects of your profile will make up for this, but do expect more thorough scrutiny!
Your actual approval chances depend on all details of your case and is impossible to tell from the limited data you gave.

Infact, they did not adjust salary after appeal.Below is what happened
1.My Promotion and hike discussion was happening from the month of Feb-21 and Obviously, such thing are time taking process in any org and requires higher level approvals took sometime.
2.My Epass is going to expire this month and when employer went to file for renewal they have realised  that I am not eligible for EP and eligible only for SPass.
3.Since they are not sure when this hike and promotion will happen due to approvals they have decided to file spass and filed spass. After a week or so after filing spass I got promotion and hike and with that salary I was eligible for epass. So they have revoked application and filed epass which got rejected.

I just want to share mine, though, could be different.

I was on EP on 2019, and when the company tried to renew my EP, it got rejected as it says the salary does not meet the criteria.

Every Year we have an annual increase and I got a salary raised and it is eligible to the new EP criteria from MOM as per SAT.

Our HR did not file for a rejection appeal, but instead apply for a fresh renewal and adjusted the salary accordingly.

I only have 9% salary hike and my EP renewal was approved for 8 working days.

I was reading this forum even before my renewal is due and I know for the fact that my salary will not able to meet the new EP criteria. Once the salary was adjusted, I still am anxious that it may be rejected due salary increase but was surprised and happy that it was approved.

Hi I just got offered a new job and my new employer has submitted EP Application. The following are my details

Company: Global MNC
Relevant and Total Experience: 4+ years
Education: Bachelor's fr one of the Top 50 Unis in the World
Current salary: 4.5k
New salary: 6k (about 33%) increment but definitely in line with market rate
Position: Digital Manager
Nationality: Malaysian

Just wondering based on this info, is this is the salary commensurate with everything else.

I've seen varying outcomes for different people and situations so I'm just wondering if I should get ready for a rejection and what kinds of documents should I prepare?

If not done already you may initiate Education verification for your degree(s) with MoM’s approved verification agencies (e.g Avvanz, RMI etc), just incase if you are asked to submit this will come handy and you can save time as it usually takes up to 18 business days.

Thank you for the tip. I've just begun verification process. However, I hope this isn't the case. Hopefully My new potential HR department has included the necessary docs and justification for my salary.

Finally, My EP got approved after a long wait.My observation is, if EP gets rejected due to salary hike then cover letter with strong justification showing candidate credentials should work..

All the best to people who are sailing in same boat.

Congrats!! I'm experiencing the same issue now, and my employer just submitted the first appeal. May I know if you provide any documents or proof to your justification letter? Or it was done by your employer only and any differences between your first appeal and second? My employer didn't ask me to do anything for the appeal... so I'm a bit anxious waiting for the result now...
