American moving to the Philippines

First time living abroad, hoping to get any pointers for first time living in the Philippines. Also any additional information about my tourist visa would be helpful.

Yes.. I too will soon be entering PI early 2022. (hopefully)  I will follow this topic if you don't mind. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Please use the pull down SEARCH by CATEGORY menu at the top of the main forum page. You can scroll through all the categories (20+) and there is a TON of information.

First question I would ask though is - have you ever visited?

Where are you based

Simon-I am living in Baguio City N.Luzon since June 2012. I choose Baguio because of the cooler weather and low cost of living. These are the 2 mot important factors for me. Everyone is different.JIMMY

what you like  to know?

Read Culture Shock: Philippines. Also provide more information, like are you already here, and why are you moving here, how old are you, etc.

I am in CT and want to relocate to Cebu.. but i'm gonna visit first for a month just to confirm my decision.

Hello, I am in CT as well. I am waiting on the Philippine immigration to open up for us.

Yea.. let's keep each other posted about the restrictions being lifted.  All is helpful especially when we have to book flights in advance...  i will be flying into Cebu.. unless someone talks me into venturing to another location in the Philippines.. LOL :)

You should check with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. They just updated who is allowed entry into the country on July 1.

Looking for a builder In Cebu

I  dont know any in Angels or Cebu  (because I dont like cities   :)
but there are organisations of real estate agents.
Better chance for not scammers if LICENCED.

The guy who built our house is in Cebu. The cost of the house was P5.5 million including septic system but he may charge you for design and blueprints also. We owned the lot so that is just the house. This house was built in Biliran province so a lot of the material was shipped from Cebu by boat, you may be able to work a better deal if you're in Cebu. The actual picture is a couple months old, the stone work on the carport columns is finished now.

Re: Looking for a Real Estate agent in Angeles.

My wife and I bought a house in Angeles last year. We dealt with Roger Patawaran at House For Less Realty. His office is just outside the Clark Friendship gate about 4 blocks past the Burger King, on the right as you are heading toward the bridge.
We were also shown several homes by Lorna Sarmiento.

Great thanks

Very nice home.

I sent you a message.

This is the only site I see for them, I have been off an on the phone with a couple agents. I just want to make sure that I am talking to an actual company.

I am trying to move very quickly before travel restrictions change. Like literally this month

Thanks Moon Dog. How many Bed Rooms?

3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a maid's room that could be a 4th bedroom but we set it up as the laundry/utility room. It will soon have 2 kitchens, we are having the dirty kitchen enclosed.

Very cool. We are looking in Guadalupe in Cebu for a lot.
We just emailed Romeo.
Thanks and I'll keep you updated

JR should take care of you. His family lives in Brgy Bunga on Biliran Island where our house is and my sister in law went to school with him. If you play golf  you will have something to talk about. He uses 6" 750psi blocks on outside walls and 4" 450psi blocks on the inside walls. Maybe that is standard for a two story but it sounded good to me. We just received our negative test results so we are going home in the morning.

I still have the foreman who built the house on the payroll, he's enclosing the dirty kitchen, the windows are being installed today. There was a half wall at one end of the kitchen patio that was the dirty kitchen but we had Lido enclose so everything can stay dry.

Looks solid

I think so, Lido used the 6" 750psi blocks with posts and tie beams. We asked him if he could build a roof that wouldn't block the view from the terrace and he said no problem. Didn't take him long.

My friend has a 2 bedroom condo for sale in Punta about 30mins taxi from Cebu Center pool laundry fully furnished all mod cons sea view. Also a 5% share in a restrobar next to immigration for sale separate. Pm me details.

Thanks
