Gathering info on relocation

I am looking for information on moving to Portugal. We would like a house with a yard and a garage so we are looking at Cascais and the Algarve areas. Any feedback on these two areas to consider?

Also looking for a real estate agent in these areas? Would one agent be able to show us all the properties listed on different sites or we have to get multiple agents depending on what we find on the different sites?

Lastly, I am also looking for a mortgage company. Is there any American mortgage company who lends for foreign properties? Or a local mortgage company who lends for 30 years regardless of age?

Hi lantosmercedes, Welcome  :)

These two areas are very popular with expats. Cascais is one of the most expensive in the greater Lisbon area. The Algarve has several possibilities, some more expensive, some more cheaper.

Normally a real estate agent represents just one real estate company. Home loans are made by banks working on the portuguese market. You can ask each one for details.

Interest rates are low at the moment.
The financing periods depend on the applicant's age.
Portuguese banks give credit to foreigners.
They do not usually finance more than 90% of a property.

I am not aware of any foreign companies financing property in Portugal.
