Company Car / impact on net salary

Post new topic

Rohit45

Hello,

I have opted for an option for a company car recently.
However, what confuses me is the VAA calculations and the impact on my take home.

Can someone guide me with the calculations of having a company diesel car and the tax calculations associated with it.

Ro.

You'll find all the information you need about the ATN / VAA here:
https://www.vaa-atn.be/Calcul-ATN.html

Full price of the car (without discount) x age quotient x (5,5 + (0,1 x (CO2 wltp))) x 6/7

You can already see the ATN in the offers from the leasers (Arval, ALD, ...).

Good question. I am curious to know.
My company deducted 460 from my gross monthly salary.

However, on my payslips, they add net 150 and deduct net 150 to see zero effect due to the car.

Rohit45

Yes, I am going through the same stuff.

They added the VAA value to my gross, deducted the tax and social security and then they deducted the VAA from my net.

So I can't really make out whether the VAA amount is actually deducted from my package or not and also I think that I still have to pay taxes on the co2 emissions of the diesel vehicle over and above the VAA.

I already enquired this with the HR but the answers were not satisfactory.

You'll always have something like "2478 cotisation CO2" in your payslip. (contribution C02).

and you should have a
"2278 AVANTAGE VOIT.DE SOCIETE" (advantage of a company car)
"2378 MONTANT NATURE" (Neutral advantage All Nature)
to make it equals to 0.

Rohit45

Yes, but the mentioned changes in the sal slip obviously has an impact on my take home.

For instance, if the VAA of my car is 260, does that mean that 260 shall be deducted from my net payout ? (apparently this is happening in my case)

Because I do see a difference in my net salary post opting for a car.
Also, that's logic but the question is where is the benefit in kind ?  :)
If it is a benefit, why is my net impacted ? This benefit should be over and above the gross salary no ?
And, do I also pay the tax for the CO2 emissions later or is that included in the VAA deductions ?

This is a relatively new concept for me so my questions can be weird or may seem illogical but I am just trying to fetch the answers.

The answer to your question will greatly differ if you're self employed or employee to a company

But basically, keep in mind that the less the ATN is, the less you'll pay tax and the more "after tax" you'll get on your bank account.
An employee will pay tax for the given car granted by your company, mainly because it's considered as a 'free gift' as you can use it in your daily/private life.

And as you might beginning to understand, Belgium is one of the best place on earth about taxes, but not for us/residents...

I am an employee of the company Alex.
But the ATN gets deducted from my Net salary. It should not no if I get the car as benefit in kind ?

So I am not sure if I am getting the benefit or not.

About the taxes, I think I will be at a loss there as well because I am sure I am going to receive less from the govenrment.

Hello Expats,

I would like understand what would be the typical net in hand salary for 80000 euro gross yearly salary. is it a good salary for Belgium? I have two kids, and working spouse.

Thank you.

From what I read from you seems logical.
They add the ATN to deduct the tax from that ATN (50%+communal tax) and then they take back the ATN.

So basically you only have to pay the tax calculated based on the ATN and not the ATN as a whole.

A benefit in kinds = company car for private life => benefits (because you can only use a company car for your business work but now you can use for your private life) => tax on benefits!

Or I think maybe you are expecting that ATN should be added to your payslip??? No because you already have your car!?

The Site Alex gaves you already show good calculation. Its calculated for 1 year so you should devide by 12 to see how monthly you will get.
